Nike NFL Uniforms: New Uniforms Lack Change, but Will Excel in Performance

Disappointed in the lack of change with the new Nike NFL uniforms?

A few teams certainly need makeovers and will likely get them in the next year, but what this year's uniforms lack in flash they make up for in functionality.

While Nike kept the majority of the current colors and designs of the NFL teams, they made major adjustments in the fabric and technology.

For instance, they went ahead with their Flywire design for the color and slimmed down the actual jerseys.

We've gotten used to seeing NFL jerseys getting tighter and tighter, and Nike went ahead with that concept and used a special type of fabric that keeps the jersey tight, water-resistant and breathable.

The pants, meanwhile, have added padding around the belt, a better ventilation system throughout the leg and also use the water-resistant technology.

Nike has always done a good job with their cleats and have also gone ahead with the glove design made popular by the college teams sponsored by Nike. The two are easily the flashiest of the alterations made by the Oregon-based company.

The changes to the uniforms will be felt more by the players than they'll be seen by fans, but that isn't the worst possible thing.

Fans are still going to buy Nike NFL gear and they're going to buy it again next year when more changes are made. In the meantime, Nike has a chance to prove to the players and the league that their equipment and technology is easily the best choice for them, and give the players a chance to talk Nike into possible changes for next year.

One thing Nike excels at is listening to athletes and creating specialized products that fit the needs and desires of their clients and consumers.

So again, Nike didn't shock the world with their unveiling of the 2012 uniform designs, but the players are certainly going to notice the difference they step on the field.
