Wrestlemania 28: CM Punk Desperately Needs a New Rival

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

CM Punk needs to find a fresh rivalry to get his blood boiling and the ratings soaring.

The WWE was trying desperately to get this going with Chris Jericho, but after watching Punk take him out at WrestleMania, it is pretty clear that this rivalry does not have much of a future.

If they really wanted to build up that head-to-head matchup, the only outcome they could have had was with Jericho winning.

This would have set up a highly anticipated rematch. Instead, Punk won and it was not in particularly thrilling fashion.

This had the potential to be a high-flying and fast-paced match. It turned out to be more of a brawl. And how could it not be with all the smack talk that had been going down?

This was a waste. The match could have been much more entertaining and it is not a storyline that needs to be developed further. CM Punk deserves better.

He is an entertaining and deserving champion that is getting lost in the shuffle because he does not have a crowd-charming rivalry in the works.

It is time to go big with Punk...literally. He needs a new rivalry with one of the bigger WWE fighters—like the one he had with Undertaker. A certain Mr. Brock Lesnar might be the perfect option here.

Going against an opponent like that is when Punk is at his best and it really gives his athleticism a chance to shine.
