5 Greatest Arsenal Players of the Arsene Wenger Era

In Arsene we trust. Here’s who he trusted most.

Arsene Wenger has brought unprecedented success to Arsenal since taking over as the club’s manager in 1996. The club’s run of three league titles and four FA Cup triumphs since then has been helped by several great players, from Thierry Henry to Robin van Persie.

This is a list of five of the very greatest.

Before you start calling for my head, no, RvP didn’t quite make the list. It was a tough decision, but the competition for spots was fierce.

In addition to individual greatness, I also considered winning silverware when evaluating players. That meant extra points for players like David Seaman and Patrick Vieira.

But with another season like the one he’s having now, though, van Persie might find himself right in the middle of this countdown.

Other names who could have appeared here include Robert Pires, Ian Wright (who had most of his best moments in an Arsenal shirt before Wenger arrived), Cesc Fabregas, Freddie Ljungberg, Marc Overmars, Martin Keown and Sol Campbell.
