3 Things the UFC Can Learn from Wrestlemania 28 for UFC 147

Matthew RothApr 2, 2012

This summer, the UFC heads back to Brazil in an attempt to set their all-time attendance record for Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen II. Scheduled to take place in June at the beautiful Estádio Olímpico João Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, the UFC hopes this Brazilian event will lead to future stadium shows.

As one of the most important events in the promotion's history, they can draw several aspects from the WWE's production of Wrestlemania to ensure that UFC 147 is one of the most memorable cards ever.

National Anthems

1 of 3

Something that makes Wrestlemania so incredible is with opening the night with "America the Beautiful". While it is obvious the UFC can't do this because of their international schedule, there is an ability create a big fight atmosphere by singing the national anthems of the main event combatants. The national anthems are played before most sporting events, why not at a UFC card?

Chael's trash talk has created an fight with national pride on the line. There's enough of a story to justify the singing of the Brazilian National Anthem and Star Spangled Banner. Why not play into it?

Fireworks Around the Top of the Stadium

You know what would make Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen in Brazil more special? Fireworks. Not just a couple but a ton of fireworks around the top of the stadium. Imagine how awesome that would look on camera. Now imagine how awesome it would be for the live audience.

That photo from Wrestlemania looks amazing. I want to see something similar for UFC 147.

The Rock

Picture the atmosphere for Jon Jones vs Rashad Evans. Okay now multiply it by a bunch and remove Rashad and add the Rock. Seriously, that would be the biggest PPV ever.
