WrestleMania 28: Outstanding Main Events Outweigh Negative Moments

Ryan RudnanskyApr 2, 2012

There were two matches that should have never seen the light of day in WrestleMania 28, but when all was said and done, the card rounded out nicely and gave wrestling fans something to look forward to in the future.

WrestleMania 28 certainly had some moments that caused wrestling fans to vomit. Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan was an 18-second embarrassment. Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Eve Torres and Beth Phoenix was chock full of botches and blunders. Watching Menounos climb up the turnbuckle was actually humorous.

But WrestleMania 28 was saved when the Undertaker and Triple H gave us a match to remember in Hell in a Cell with Shawn Michaels as the referee and The Rock defeated John Cena.

It should have been over when Michaels hit chin music on the Undertaker and Triple H hit the pedigree. But the Undertaker got out of many close calls and ultimately defeated Triple H the same way he defeated Michaels in WrestleMania 26. It was a fantastic battle, and if this was indeed the Undertaker's last match, what a way to go out.

Then there was The Rock vs. John Cena. Technically, it wasn't the greatest match in the world, but everything else made up for that. The two powerhouses gave us over 30 minutes of intense, back-and-forth action and put everything they had into it. Some may be disappointed Cena lost, but if he won, everything would revert back to normal and he'd be in the title picture within a month. I like what this does for Cena's character. It's going to be interesting where he goes from here.

But the fact of the matter is, there was a lot to like about this year's card and, in all, it was a success. The main events were exciting, even if you didn't like the final outcome, and the big names made up for the failures of Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Kelly Kelly, Maria Menounos, Eve Torres and Beth Phoenix.

WWE fans should ultimately be happy with how the card turned out instead of complaining about a couple of matches.
