The Rock vs. John Cena: Surprise Ending Saved Headline Match from Being a Bust
The Rock and John Cena squared off in the main event of WrestleMania 28, and thanks to a shocking finish, the hype built around this headline match was saved.
Fans had been anxiously anticipating this meeting for a long time, but it wasn't a mind-blowing epic match that will be locked in history as one of the best WrestleMania bouts ever.
Cena carried The Rock throughout the match, and the bigger movie star looked physically tired as the brawl wore on.

There's no question that The Rock was rusty, but wanting to do movie after movie as opposed to WWE full-time will do that to a wrestler.
Still, the match can be viewed as a success because of the surprise ending.
It looked as though Cena had this thing wrapped up, but then, almost as if on cue, he got incredibly cocky.
Cena tried to end The Rock with the "People's Elbow," which happens to be The Rock's move.
It came back to ruin Cena, as The Rock got up and delivered the "Rock Bottom."
It was all over, and the match was saved from being a bust. Nobody saw that type of ending coming, but leading up to it, this bout lacked major flare.
Perhaps the hype outweighed reality, which is why WWE had to spring a surprise on us at the end.
Had both wrestlers looked more even throughout the fight, then we could label it as epic or one of the greats of WrestleMania.
You have to give credit to the WWE for trying to blow everyone away with the ending, but it might have served them better if they spent more time on crafting the entire match to help make it spectacular.
