CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho: Top 3 Highlights from Epic WrestleMania 28 Clash

Brandon GalvinApr 2, 2012

CM Punk and Chris Jericho put on the instant classic at WrestleMania 28 that we all expected.

Punk and Jericho are two of the very best overall performers to ever grace the wrestling industry. At the biggest stage, they proved just that. The crowd was hot for this match from the get-go, which further proved why they deserved the amount of time they received.

This is a match we'll all re-watch over and over again due to its sheer greatness. It was extremely difficult to narrow down just three of the top spots from the epic bout, considering how many classic moments there were, but here they are:

Inverted Suplex to Outside

Say what you want about Kane chokeslamming Randy Orton from the turnbuckle or the brilliance of Undertaker vs. Triple H, this may have been the best spot of the night (up until later in this match of course).

I don't remember the last time I saw such a high-impact move of this magnitude. This was the premier punch to the gut if you've ever seen one in a WWE Championship match. Jericho completed an inverted suplex that looked like Bill Goldberg's Jackhammer a bit and sent Punk crashing down to the mats below off the ring apron.

The impact of Punk's back smashing against the floor echoed throughout Miami.

Truly epic.

Jericho Counters Punk's Hurricanrana into Walls of Jericho

This may have been a spot we've seen in the past, but it was executed flawlessly. It was this perfection that comes in at No. 2 on the list instead of the awesomeness that was Jericho countering Punk's high-risk maneuver with the Code Breaker.

The Code Breaker spot was a bit more predictable than the Walls of Jericho counter. This spot came out of nowhere and fit in perfectly with the flow of the match.

Simply phenomenal.

Final False-Finish Sequence

Instead of trying to pin-point an exact spot, just re-watch the entire finish of this match that was full of epic counter after epic counter. You couldn't tell who was going to win this match because they each had the other man's number.

These two traded counter after counter, but it was CM Punk who finally caught Jericho with the Anaconda Vice.

Though I predicted Jericho to win the match, and still believe he deserved to win to continue this feud, nobody should be disappointed with the action these two provided.

This was a phenomenal match and lived up to the billing. These two men set the bar extremely high for any future encounters. It was a battle between two of the best in the world, and it surpassed expectations.
