Celtics Dominate Heat and Push Win Streak to Five Behind Rondo's Triple Double
I was lucky enough to be in the stands for the Celtics 91-72 thrashing of the Miami Heat, and I can honestly say that it was by far the best game I have seen from the Celtics this season. It was utter domination, yet at the same time, it wasn't anĀ otherworldly performance by the Celtics. They played pure Celtics basketball all the way, and that was all it took to cool the Heat.
No one player dominated for the Celtics, everyone just did their job. As can be expected in a nationally televised game, Rondo tore up the stat sheet with his fifth triple-double of the season (the rest of the NBA has combined for nine) that included 16 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. This pushes his streak of games with double-digit assists to an incredible 13 games.
Every other starter scored in double digits for the Celtics, and like Rondo, all did their part to win. The captain, Paul Pierce, netted 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Brandon Bass recorded a double-double with 16 points (10-10 from the line) and 10 rebounds. On top of those performances, Avery Bradley continued his great play as the starting shooting guard with 13 points, two steals and one of the best blocks of the season on Dwayne Wade
This win, along with the current five game winning streak, is a great sign for the Celtics and all Celtics fans. It shows that this team can still play at an extremely high level and can never be counted out, especially come playoff time. However, they will need to keep up this level of play with the Spurs next on theĀ scheduleĀ followed by the Bulls, Pacers, 76ers, Heat again and the Hawks all in the next 10 days. Ā
