Nike NFL Uniforms: Classic Uniforms Nike Must Not Tweak

Timothy RappApr 2, 2012

Change can be a great thing. Doing the same thing over and over and over again can get really stale and boring for anyone. Eventually, repetition breeds discontent.

But there are a few things so classic that they need not be changed.

Which is why I've identified a few jerseys that Nike absolutely must not tamper with. Believe or not, a few things should remain sacred, and these uniforms are among them.

Let's start the fashion show.

Green Bay Packers

Yeah, they're boring, and sort of ugly, and they aren't going to become the new popular choice for young, fashion-minded adults in Paris anytime soon.

But they're a staple of the NFL, and seeing a fancier version of these uniforms during a Lambeau Leap would just feel wrong. Keep your gleam and shine away from Green Bay's uniforms, Nike—they don't need it.

Pittsburgh Steelers

A team with the name "Steelers" doesn't need any fancy-pants uniform, and one of the signature franchises of the NFL doesn't need an image realignment.

The black and gold with a logo only on one side of the helmet has sufficed for a long time now, and there isn't any need to change it up.

Cleveland Browns

They're called the Browns, for heaven's sake—the last thing they need is a complicated jersey. A brown helmet might make sense, but why change now?

Chicago Bears

Sure, like most teams, the Bears have seen minor tweaks to the jersey over the years. An added color outline to the jersey here, a pretty sweet orange alternative uni there.

But in general, the Bears uniforms have remained steadfast—the stoic midnight blue and white with a bit of orange mixed in for just the right amount of flair.

Da Bears don't need much more than that.

Kansas City Chiefs

From Super Bowl I until now, the Chiefs jerseys have remained pretty much the same. One might even say they've stayed uniform.

Hilarious, I know.

Kansas City is a classic organization in this league, even if they don't have the cachet of the other organizations listed. Theirs is a classic design that needs no alterations—let them be, Nike.
