Top NFL Players' Alter-Egos in WWE
The NFL has some amazing players and personalities to go with their insane talents. The WWE is known for its personalities to go along with its insanely talented athletes. These two brands share a few guys who could fill in as the same role in either business. The following are the wrestling alter egos of some of the top players in the NFL.
Sean Weatherspoon as Brodus Clay
1 of 9There are people out there that just bring excitement and electricity to their sport. They are also the ones that bring a little bit of comedy to it as well.
"Spoon Jones," aka Sean Weatherspoon, is the Falcons outside linebacker and leader to the defense. He's a true character, though.
Brodus Clay is the Funkasaurus Rex. Clay is one of the top younger talents, and his gimmick is hilarious. Clay shows a comedic side to the show and makes sure that the crowd is always entertained. Clay's also known for taking down people early and often in his matches.
Spoon is definitely Clay, as he will always get the crowd into it. We are all just waiting for the day when Spoon Jones makes that third-down stop and starts dancing with the cheerleaders.
Maurice Jones-Drew as Daniel Bryan
2 of 9Daniel Bryan is about 5'8", 200 pounds soaking wet. Maurice Jones-Drew is about 5'7", 200 pounds soaking wet. They are both some of the smaller hardest-working men in their industry. However, they both share one interesting trait: They are the best at what they do.
Daniel Bryan was a champion up until tonight in the WWE and is arguably the best technical wrestler to be part of the organization since Hall of Fame legend Bret "The Hitman" Hart. Maurice Jones-Drew was the NFL's leading rusher in 2011 and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Haloti Ngata as the Big Show
3 of 9Haloti Ngata is the largest athlete in the NFL and known as a gentle giant. The Big Show is the largest athlete in sports entertainment and is also known as a gentle giant. Lately, he has been a fan favorite.
Ngata uses his weight to control interior linemen in every game. He's also one of the strongest competitors out there and will be decorated as a Pro Bowler for a long time.
The Big Show is no different. The Big Show is one of only a handful of Grand Slam Champions in the WWE and has held every title in the sport.
Jared Allen as Sheamus
4 of 9Sheamus is the goofiest wrestler in the WWE, but has been one of the few guys who have held the world title multiple times. He's big, he's paler than paper and if he was American, he would have a mullet.
That brings me to Jared Allen. He's big, but he's goofy and has a mullet. He's also got a similar style to his game that Sheamus has by going through his opponents rather than around them. Allen has been one of the NFL's leading pass-rushers for years.
Ray Lewis as Triple H
5 of 9Ray Lewis has been the heart and soul of the Ravens for years. His ability has been unparalleled, and many a player try to emulate him. He's been what people think of when they think of the Ravens, and his attitude and loud mouth are notorious around the rest of the NFL.
Triple H was the face of the WWE for a long time. He's known for playing games with his opponents, but off the camera, he has always been one of the top guys in the locker room and will be around the company for a long time.
DeSean Jackson as Chris Jericho
6 of 9Brass loudmouth with small achievements long ago that no one cares about? Check for Jericho. Check for Jackson.
Guys who are paid too much for their roles in their own individual companies? Check for Jericho. Check for Jackson.
Jackson and Jericho are right around the same height and weight too. Both play roles that could be so much bigger with their companies had they both tried. Jericho takes about half of the year off, and Jackson doesn't fall too far behind on that trend either.
Darrelle Revis as CM Punk
7 of 9"Best in the world!" is the chant you hear from CM Punk. Revis has his own Island. Both men are the best in their sports technically, and while they have attitudes and charismatic personalities, they tend to not rub fans the wrong way.
Darrelle Revis is the best in the world as a cornerback in the NFL. CM Punk is your WWE champion, and both men fit well on this list with their, "I'm the best, and I know it, and the world knows it" attitudes.
Troy Polamalu as the Rock
8 of 9Troy Polamalu and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson both are leaders for their teams and organizations, and have been for years. The thing they both have going for them is that they are the biggest crossover talents in their respective sports.
Polamalu and The Rock are both Samoans and some of the best size-speed combinations you will ever see for their sports. These are also two of the more philanthropic men off the field and are true professionals.
Peyton Manning as John Cena
9 of 9John Cena is a true franchise player for the WWE. His natural talents and his outside-the-ring exploits have turned him into the face of the WWE. He's doing endorsements all over the place, and people only love to hate him because of the exposure.
Peyton Manning is the exact same way. No one is more clean-cut than Manning, and he is just not the brand ambassador for the Colts, but he is the brand ambassador for the entire NFL.
