Undertaker vs Triple H: Why Match Will Be Better Than the Rock vs. John Cena

Alex HallJun 6, 2018

For the past year, WrestleMania 28 has been hyped with The Rock vs. John Cena as the headline match, but with Undertaker and Triple H locking up once again, that will end up being the most memorable match.

As exciting as the match will be between Rocky and his New England adversary, 'Taker and H put together a phenomenal bout last year at WrestleMania 27 and know how to do it all over again.

While neither Triple H or the dead man have been the most active in the ring over the past year or so, they know each other well and they are two of the best at captivating an audience using their skill set and showmanship.

Cena does a fine job of hyping his matches through his work on the microphone and whatnot, but he isn't the best at captivating an audience during a match. While The Rock can make up for Cena's weaknesses in that regard, but neither are the most technical of wrestlers and neither have a huge arsenal of moves to show off to the fans.

Undertaker and The Game are not afraid to go outside of their typical move-set, as fans saw last year when Triple H used the tombstone piledriver. Both superstars have been in the business so long that they aren't afraid to lock in a figure-four leg lock, use the other's finishing maneuver or bring back a finisher from a past wrestler to get the fans off their feet.

Sure, Rocky uses his version of the Sharpshooter and is one of the best showmen of all-time, but Cena isn't the best at selling submissions.

I still remember when I first saw Cena locked in the sharpshooter by Chris Benoit several years ago. Benoit locked it in to perfection while Cena laid on his belly wincing, but not in the typical agony fans of the old days used to see from Curt Hennig, Ric Flair and the rest.

It's been said by guys like Bret Hart and special guest referee Shawn Michaels that wrestling is a lot like dancing; you're only as good as your partner. Triple H and Undertaker are simply better dance partners than Rock and Cena are.

Speaking of the Heartbreak Kid, his involvement in his best friend's WrestleMania match makes things that much more interesting. While fans will be awed over the back and forth action between H and 'Taker, they will be wondering in the back of their head just what Michaels will do when the pinning situations come late in the match.

Michaels knows how to put on memorable performances at 'Mania, and he provides his match with a mysterious storyline that The Rock and Cena just don't have at their disposal.

Both matches could easily be the top two performances of the night, but there is no way that Undertaker versus Triple H finishes second on that list.
