WrestleMania 28: The Usos Will Walk out of Miami as Tag Team Champions

Nathan GieseJun 7, 2018

It has been announced that before the real show begins on Sunday, there will be a triple threat Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania pitting the champions Epico and Primo against the teams of The Usos and the combo of Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd.

For some, this is good news to hear.

The Tag Team championships have fallen to the wayside over the past few months and have lost all credibility with Epico and Primo rarely defending the straps or being on national television to promote their champions stature.

Having a tag team title match is the right thing to do, as it gives six guys their own shot at WrestleMania glory, something only Justin Gabriel had last year, as he was part of an eight-man tag team match as part of the Corre against Big Show, Kane, Santino and Kofi Kingston.

Now, the Usos, Epico and Primo will have their shot at claiming the spotlight, if only for a moment.  While the show itself may not be on the official pay-per-view, as it will be streaming live on WWE.com and Youtube prior to the real show beginning, it is better than nothing.

However, the question that exists now is: who will walk away as the tag team champions?

The easy, simple answer would be that Epico and Primo, with a little help from the eye-candy they bring to the ring in Rosa Mendes, will find a way to steal their titles back from the competition.  Except, that doesn't have to be the way this match ends, nor should it be.

Overall, the tag team titles have completely lost their meaning and all substance in the grand scheme of the WWE. Having Epico and Primo holding the titles further takes away from the meaning that the tag team titles once held. Not that Epico and Primo are bad performers, on the contrary, they bring a certain flair to either matches and work well as a team, but they haven't done anything of note since gaining the championships from Air Boom.

With that being said, it's time for a change of the tag team scene. It's time for new champions, ones that have been around for years together and have yet to be given a chance to shine in the ranks of the higher tag teams.

Who better to win the match on Sunday than Jey and Jimmy Uso.

The Usos have been around the WWE for what seems like an eternity, never really being able to break through as the next big team on the scene. They have proven themselves as two guys that work great as a team and assess themselves as self-confident, pulling off some impressive moves for men of their size.

You could make the argument that Gabriel and Kidd should win, but in reality, they are just another team that has been thrown together for this match because they have nothing better to do and they wanted a team to help bring some bigger fan appeal into the match to open the show.

Jey and Jimmy Uso deserve to walk away as the WWE Tag Team Champions tomorrow night, and they will.
