NFL Draft 2012: Predicting Landing Spots for Top QBs Available

David LevinJun 6, 2018

Meet the "Jones." Or in this case, meet the "Quarterbacks."

These are the guys who will shape the NFL for the next 10-12 years. These are the ones who will get most of the headlines for both wins and loses.

And for some, the new breed of flamer thrower in the NFL.

There are three quarterbacks who are almost assured of being first-round picks and a handful of them who could hear their names called in the second and third round. In other words, this is a decent crop with some decent talents that can impact the league and their teams either this season or within two years.

Here is a look at these quarterbacks and the teams who they could be property of.

Andrew Luck: Indianapolis Colts

1 of 7

Luck should still be the top pick overall in three weeks.

If not, there is something seriously wrong with the selection process.

There was so much hoopla that went on between the Colts and Peyton Manning, and then Manning and Luck, and whether they could coexist.

Luck better be the man, or the Colts organization has a lot of explaining to do.

Robert Griffin, III: Washington Redskins

2 of 7

Let's see.

Daniel Snyder trades the sixth pick and the mortgage and the White House to draft Robert Griffin, III. He then goes out and buys Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan.

So now there is a mobile quarterback with great speed and two guys who can split the defense on the outside.

Is Mark Rypien back at quarterback in D.C?

Looks like a great fit for everyone.

Ryan Tannehill: Cleveland Browns

3 of 7

I think the Dolphins will seriously look to take him with the eighth pick, but this is too high for Tannehill.

If the Browns use their second selection on Tannehill, it would be the right place for him.

Tannehill, at 6'4", is tall and lanky and will give Colt McCoy a run for his money as the starting quarterback in the Browns' system.

Brandon Weeden: Miami Dolphins

4 of 7

When the Dolphins make their second pick in the draft, Weeden should be the man.

Even at 28, he could be a steal. Weeden threw 400 completions last season for Oklahoma State and will be a little more mature as a rookie than most.

He could be a starter for the next five seasons.

Kirk Cousins: Chicago Bears

5 of 7

Cousins was thought to be one of the most senior-ready passer coming out of college.

Can he make the transition to an NFL passer?

I personally think there is a lot of Kyle Orton in him. And Orton has done a pretty good job in the NFL.

Brock Osweiler: Arizona Cardinals

6 of 7

Is he another Dan McGwire? At 6'7" he is great for looking over a defense and firing away.

The problem with Osweiler is that while he is a nice prospect, he has only played in 15 games in college.

Could a team really wait two or three years for its investment?

We shall wait and see.

Nick Foles: Buffalo Bills

7 of 7

Foles was one of one of the more mobile passer in college football last season, willing the Wildcats to wins.

Buffalo signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a huge contract extension and then he responded by being mediocre the second half of the season.

There needs to be someone who can come in and light a fire under the incumbent. Foles, at 6'5" and 240 pounds, could be the one to do it.
