WrestleMania 28: Big Surprises the Event Can Give Us
WrestleMania is near us, wrestling fans!
Judging from the card, it could be a safe bet that it'll be a very memorable event. The majority of the matches will be intense and filled with great moments. We can expect to have some good backstage segments as well.
But a lot of the content from this WrestleMania is fairly predictable.
I don't know about you guys, but my favorite part of the WWE is the surprises, the things you didn't expect would happen. And really, wouldn't it be awesome if the biggest event in pro wrestling would have totally unexpected stuff?
That is the objective of this list, to rank the possible surprises the company can give us and make the night even more memorable.
Let's begin!
6. Eve and Beth Phoenix Win
1 of 7Let's face it, Kelly has Maria, a celebrity, by her side.
Why would WWE bring in Menounos just to lose at the biggest event in wrestling? Wouldn't make lots of sense now, would it? But the idea of having Beth Phoenix, the Divas champion, lose at 'Mania is just bad. It would make her look very weak, and, therefore, make the title look equally as cheap.
So, wouldn't it be great to see two of the biggest female heels right now win? It would make the diva division a bit more interesting and maybe set something for the future.
Sadly, I think this is the less possible result possible for April 1st, which is a shame.
5. Team Betrayal
2 of 7The tag team match between Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny has a total of 12 participants starring in it. You have to think that at least one of those superstars will betray his team leader and help the other team to victory.
The wrestlers who are most likely to change sides this Sunday are the Miz, Zack Ryder, the Great Khali, and maybe Drew McIntyre.
The Miz has been a great heel for a long time. He has been trapped in a losing streak as of late, but, thanks to helping out Johnny against Santino on last week's Raw, he made it to the 'Mania card. But you have to wonder, by making the team without much hype, could Miz be looking to aid Teddy?
Then we have Ryder. He just came back from "injury" and returned to looking like the same old goofball, and all thanks to Eve. This heel diva has Zack in her trance and could make Ryder betray the SmackDown GM and attack one of his teammates.
We also have Khali, which we all could agree is the worst part of the match, but I digress. This big guy made it to the team, thanks to Zack Ryder's fist-bumping ways. You have to wonder, will Khali get annoyed and suddenly Khali Chop his broski?
Drew has been in a storyline where he has been fired by Teddy but rehired by Johnny after a big losing streak, but it seems he has been getting his edge back. Maybe Drew will get ignored at 'Mania which could make him rethink things. Could Drew have a change of heart and actually aid his old boss?
4. Kane Overcomes Orton
3 of 7After a few weeks of Orton besting the Big Red Monster, it has become quite obvious that this match was just made to have Randy on 'Mania and give him an easy win. Don't get me wrong, the match has the potential to be great, but the result is way to predictable.
A complete turn of events could make things interesting. It can make Kane look more threatening and lead to a series of matches, which could end with Randy besting him.
However, it could look more creative if Kane actually made a rival out of Orton, rather than just losing to Mr. RKO one time and leaving him alone later.
3. New Tag Team Champions
4 of 7I know! A dark match this so high up in the list? Well, believe it! What bigger surprise than a tag team title change in a preshow match?
It may not need a lot more hype, but that is why the surprise would be bigger if Epico and Primo lost their titles to one of the opponents.
Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd will debut as a tag team in 'Mania. That's pretty cool, but it's the reason why their winning the title is not only hard to believe, but also a bad idea. Without any hype, beating the champs in a dark match would make the titles look pretty easy to get.
The team that should beat the champions is the Usos. They've been a team longer than the rest of the teams in this match, and they have a great move set and chemistry. These guys could very well be the future of the tag team division. They really do deserve a run with the titles.
Let's see if the company wants to be unpredictable.
2. Daniel Bryan Leaves as Champion
5 of 7The Royal Rumble winner, Sheamus, has been getting the push of a lifetime. An obvious result of this amazing rise would be beating Daniel Bryan and leaving with the championship. And the champion has been made a coward, only winning by being sneaky.
Just imagine for a minute that Bryan could still be champion this April 2nd. If by DQ, it would be unexpected, but just think about a pin or submission victory, it would solidify Bryan as a great heel and a capable champion.
Of course, it would take giving Sheamus push down, but the surprise factor would be off the roof.
1. Triple H Ends the Streak
6 of 7This is a fairly obvious first pick.
The Undertaker's streak has survived for 19 WrestleManias. We have to believe that it will never end, that 'Taker will retire undefeated at the Biggest Stage of Them All.
Well, wouldn't it be an eye opener if Triple H didn't let the streak go 20-0? It would really be a game changer. It would change history forever.
He really has the odds in his favor, thanks to Shawn Michaels being the guest referee. He could actually favor Hunter at the end and count to 3, ending the event's record.
It's really unimaginable, but it would be the biggest surprise we could ever have in WWE history.
Thanks for Reading
7 of 7Just for the record, I didn't add anything from the Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk or the Rock vs. Cena matches because any of those guys winning their respective match would be surprising.
Thanks for reading, Bleachers. Please comment your opinions, and add what I can fix or add to the articles to make them better.
And be sure to check out 'Mania. It'll be awesome, and hopefully, surprising.
