WrestleMania 28: 5 Reasons We're Excited for Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy
The power struggle between John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long over who will get full reign over Raw and SmackDown comes to a head at WrestleMania 28, in a winner-takes-all match between their two teams.
Team Johnny is captained by David Otunga and is joined by Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, The Miz and Drew McIntyre.
United States champion Santino Marella is at the helm of Team Teddy, alongside R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali and Booker T.
The winning team's general manager will become GM of Raw and SmackDown.
For "Mr. Excitement" Johnny Ace, this is yet another power grab and business as usual.
A win for Teddy Long means he'll no longer be stuck making tag team matches on the blue brand only.
Bleacher Report has narrowed down the top five reasons we're excited to see this bout. Feel free to sound off in the comment section and share your thoughts on the match as well!
The Miz Can Stop Complaining About Not Being on the WrestleMania 28 Card
1 of 5In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, The Miz has been complaining nonstop about not being on the card.
He finally made his way onto Team Johnny after saving Laurinaitis from Santino's cobra, but not without failed attempts at brown nosing his way there first.
One can only image how often a bitter Miz would reference going from the main event of WrestleMania to not appearing at all, and I'm forever grateful that we won't have to hear him complain in the months following April 1st.
Zack Ryder Is Going to WrestleMania!
2 of 5Zack Ryder is going to WrestleMania?
Woo woo woo, you know it!
Ryder was a less annoying, baby-faced, Team Teddy version of The Miz as he petitioned his way to get onto Long's team.
I'm a fan of the self-made broski, even though he's foolishly allowing himself to be seduced by Eve Torres. Ryder is sure to get the fans fired up, and hopefully he has an all-around good showing.
He and Jack Swagger have some unfinished business, so I'm hoping WWE rekindles that mini-feud after WrestleMania season is over.
John Laurinaitis Is Hilariously Bad, and We Love Him for It
3 of 5When bringing The Miz onto his team, John Laurinaitis had a stupid grin on his face, and loudly announced the following:
"Congratulations on being on Team Teddy...Johnny...you're going to WrestleMania!"
He even tried to give Miz a high five. He's so horrible that he's great, and I find myself wondering if it's more of a work than we may think.
Work, or painful facts, John Laurinaitis is hilariously bad, and I'm certain that we'll get plenty of Johnny Ace moments before and during the match.
Potential for an Entertaining Match
4 of 5The ingredients for a fun match are all there.
There are the big men, Khali and Mark Henry. Drew McIntyre isn't exactly small, either.
There are great workers like Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler.
There are gimmick wrestlers like Zack Ryder and Santino.
There is the best heel manager in the business.
The list goes on, and all these variables could lead to some very entertaining spots. While this match doesn't pack the star power of matches higher up on the card, it certainly won't lack in entertainment value.
Booker T Gets One More WrestleMania Moment
5 of 5I'm thrilled that Booker T gets one more WrestleMania moment, as the final addition to Team Teddy.
Team Teddy needed some firepower, and Booker T is just that. The only downside (or upside, depending on who you ask) is that we won't get some classic Booker T commentary. Booker T is similar to John Laurinaitis in regards to being hilariously bad.
This is the proper way to use a seasoned veteran. He won't steal anyone's spotlight but can give young talent a rub, all while leaving his mark on WrestleMania.
