WrestleMania 28: Sheamus Must Steal the Show to Make Up for Lack of Hype

Giulio RomanoJun 1, 2018

The Royal Rumble had the "Great White" Sheamus for a winner in 2012.

Usually this is a very important event in the life of a fast-rising superstar, as it propels him to the next level: the main event of WrestleMania. Unfortunately for the mean, green, Irish fighting machine, it's as if he hardly accomplished anything.

His pending World Heavyweight championship match with Daniel Bryan barely makes headlines, yet the match should be one fans pay attention to as it features two of the most promising stars of the future. The top of the card is filled with veterans and legends so it is pretty assured they will deliver, but these new guys must prove to the entire world they are ready.

Since turning "face" last year, Sheamus has been on a rocket ride to the stars. This former WWE Champion and King of the Ring knows what it's like to be on top of the mountain. Capturing the precious gold on the biggest stage of them all is no easy task but with such potential, there should be no doubt he can accomplish something fantastic.

There is a silver lining in the fact this match hasn't been as hyped as expected. The pressure is not as heavy on their shoulders as say, Chris Jericho, The Rock or John Cena. It allows for them to really sit down and take as much time as possible to deliver an outstanding match. It is in their best interest.

Sheamus has to do his very best to steal the show on Sunday. He is an incredible performer and is ripe with potential. His gimmick is strong and the fans love him. The reaction from the Live crowd is deafening and that usually serves as an intravenous for adrenaline.

He could easily replace a departing Triple H in the future with his sense of humor and physique. It's his moment to shine.

Of course, he is a big guy with limited high-flying capabilities, but when did that stop a guy like Hunter or Lesnar? What these guys lacked in speed, they made up easily with brawn and charisma. It's no different here with the Great White Irish.

This match has fallen off the radar but the two competitors haven't and it will be back to business as usual once WrestleMania is over. The older guys will have taken off to do whatever it is they do on their summer vacation but the young Superstars will remain, and who will the fans look to when the smoke clears? The ones that impressed the pants off them.

Sheamus has to be the type of guy who can make Rock/Cena fans leaving the stadium with nothing less than "OMG! The World Heavyweight title match was craaazy!" imprinted on their mind.

Never underestimate the little (or not so little) guys out there, hungry and ready to take a great white bite out of life.

The luck of the Irish never fails!
