The 2012 Hall of Fame Is the Best Group of Inductees in WWE History

The WWE Hall of Fame is somewhat odd in the fact that there is no real "hall" to speak of and the people selected to join are not chosen by a voting body of members.

This does not make it any less exciting for those who are being inducted. The WWE Hall of Fame serves as a way to honor the contributions of certain wrestlers in the business. Just because there is no physical building does not mean there won't be someday.

The people who are chosen are generally those who Vince McMahon approves. This is why you don't see a few specific names as inductees.

The 2012 Hall of Fame class is shaping up to be the best group of individuals being inducted since the inception of the event.

Edge is probably going to be inducted last as well as give the longest speech, but the rest of the inductees are all very deserving in their own ways.

Mil Mascaras is going to be inducted by Alberto Del Rio in an induction which marks one of the few times someone who has not wrestled for WWE will be receiving the honor.

Ron Simmons is also being inducted this year by his former partner in crime in the APA, John Layfield. The first African-American WCW Champion is quite deserving of the honor, and his legacy will never be forgotten in this business.

Rodney Anoa'i is being posthumously inducted by The Usos. Anoa'i wrestled as Yokozuna in WWE, and he was called one of the best big men of his time by many he stepped in the ring with.

Mike Tyson is being inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame by two men he knows very well, Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Many people have criticized Tyson's induction because he is not a wrestler, but he has been involved in a few angles over the years and he is a better candidate than Drew Carey or Pete Rose for sure.

Last, but certainly not least, are The Four Horsemen, who will be inducted by Dusty Rhodes. The version of the Horsemen being inducted is Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham and manager JJ Dillon.

This will make Flair a duel inductee as he was inducted by himself a couple of years ago.

Looking at some of the past year's classes it has to be noted that this year's is one of the best groups of inductees assembled.

Every single person on the list, with the exception of Tyson, who is debatable, is a deserving candidate.

Every individual inductee was a World Champion at some point, and The Four Horsemen were the most dominating stable in wrestling when they ran all over NWA and WCW with all the titles.

I would say the year with the closest level of excellence among it's inductees was 2006. That year we saw the following people inducted: Bret Hart, Eddie Guerrero, Gene Okerlund, Verne Gagne, Sherri, Tony Atlas and celebrity inductee William Perry from the Chicago Bears who was involved in a battle royal at WrestleMania 2.

I am really looking forward to this year's Hall of Fame ceremony as it is also entertaining to see the wrestlers we love so much open up on a personal level and share some of their favorite stories, as well as be recognized for their accomplishments and contributions.

Congratulations to everyone who is being inducted this year, you all deserve it. I only wish the rumors of Macho Man being inducted this year had been true.
