WrestleMania 28: Why John Cena Must Defeat The Rock in WWE Classic

Brandon GalvinMar 31, 2012

John Cena vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 28 will be an instant WWE classic of epic proportions.

This massive Generation vs. Generation showdown will go down as not only one of the most important and historic matches in wrestling history, but also one of the most flawlessly executed matchups ever.

For the second straight year, Cena will boast a unanimous five-star match under his belt. It will be The Rock’s long-overdue first.

It’s funny that throughout both men’s careers, fans have bashed them for their repertoire, yet they have mastered the difficult WWE craft. Count down the humongous list of past and present WWE performers and you’ll find Cena and Rock among the very best in-ring WWE workers.

These two men know how to wrestle a picture-perfect WWE-style match. Their abilities to connect with the fans throughout their facial expressions, body language and mannerisms are nearly unparalleled in the industry.

Combine their skills, high-impact signature maneuvers, heated rivalry, crowd reaction and the atmosphere of WrestleMania and you need to look no further for the recipe for a match that will stand the test of time.

This match parallels to Rock vs. Hulk Hogan 10 years ago. We all praise the match, not for the maneuvers, but the crowd reaction and immense story told during that match. Cena vs. Rock will be Rock vs. Hogan to the 10th degree.

This time, we have a man in John Cena who is leaps and bounds better than Hogan ever was in the ring. Cena has the athleticism to go toe-to-toe with Rocky in this contest.

We’re going to witness a back-and-forth extravaganza with false finish after false finish, which will send every fan on an emotional roller coaster. We won’t be able to sleep after this match because our adrenalin will be flowing through our bodies.

We’re going to replay this match in our dreams and then re-watch it for days and days afterwards. This match will be off the charts, and anybody who ever doubted Cena and The Rock will be forced to hang their heads in shame and check their pride at the door.
