Fantasy Baseball Rankings 2012: Projecting Season Stats for Best Overall Players

Eric BowmanMar 29, 2012

The 2012 MLB season is quickly approaching, which means it's time to scramble for a last-minute fantasy baseball team if you haven't already done so.

This year is sure to be filled with tons of surprises, but there's no denying which players are going to dominate.

Everyone has their take on who the top performers will be this year, so be sure to drop a comment and share your order of the top players.

With that said, here are my top three players and some predictions on their 2012 season.

Matt Kemp, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

Kemp, and many others, believed he should have won the MVP last season, but since he didn't, it's going to motivate him to dominate more than anyone in the league in 2012.

He's the star of the team, and he knows that if the Dodgers are going to reach the playoffs, they'll need Kemp to deliver in a big way, night in and night out.

Look for Kemp to soar to new heights in 2012 on his way to winning the NL MVP.

Prediction: .312 batting avg., 37 HR, 133 RBI, 42 SB

Albert Pujols, 1B,  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

He's off to a new team, but don't think for a second it will hurt "The Machine's" production.

While it will be strange to see Pujols in a different uniform, he's still the same player, so expect a great year.

Pujols is headed to the American League, which means he's likely be a DH every now and then. That means he'll be getting better rest and focusing on crushing the ball much more. That equals loads of fantasy points.

Prediction: .302 batting avg., 43 HR, 112 RBI, 10 SB

Miguel Cabrera, 3B, Detroit Tigers

Cabrera has some offensive help on his team with the addition of Prince Fielder, but that doesn't mean he'll be slacking.

If anything, it should push him to be better, because he'll have some friendly competition on the team. Cabrera is a powerful force at the plate, and his success from last year will spill over into 2012.

As the reigning AL batting champ, look for Cabrera to thrive this coming season, helping the Tigers go far.

Prediction: .332 batting avg., 35 HR, 110 RBI, 2 SB
