Wrestlemania 28 Predictions: Chris Jericho Must Beat CM Punk for WWE Title
It is imperative Chris Jericho defeats CM Punk for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 28, or else his return will be one of the biggest failures in professional wrestling history.
Jericho came back with some of the greatest vignettes we have ever seen, yet for the first month and a half, he did absolutely nothing. It was pathetic. Then, out of nowhere, he started a feud with CM Punk after failing at the Royal Rumble.
After a few more weeks of nothing happening, Jericho finally brought the heat when he spoke about Punk’s alcoholic father and drug-abusing sister. This feud is now as intense as they come and we’re all looking forward to Punk unleashing all hell on his ‘Mania foe. Still, it’s not the right time.

While the past three weeks have been solid television, this feud has taken a major backseat to John Cena vs. The Rock, Triple H vs. Undertaker and even at times Teddy Long vs. John Laurinaitis. This feud must go on to Extreme Rules (possibly even beyond) so that fans understand that these two men are truly two of the best in the world at what they do.
In order to properly extend this feud and not make Jericho look like the same joke he was when he returned in January, he needs to steal the WWE Championship at the grandest stage of them all.
Punk is one of the top faces in the company, and we all know that WWE television is far better when the top face is chasing the top heel. Given the personal and heated nature of this feud, Punk chasing Jericho to get his championship back would push this feud to new heights.
Not only would Jericho be able to rag on Punk’s family, but also Punk’s inability to defeat Jericho on a big stage. It would set up for the perfect finale at Extreme Rules or preferably even beyond where they can get the proper Main Event build they deserve.
Right now, though, it’s all about making sure Y2J looks as strong as ever. If he was to lose at WrestleMania, he will have successfully accomplished absolutely nothing since January.
At that point, he might as well retire on the spot because he will forever be one of the biggest jokes and failures we have ever seen. A true legend of Jericho’s status doesn’t deserve that. Instead, he deserves his WrestleMania moment and walk out as WWE champion.
