WWE WrestleMania: Top 10 Edge Moments at the Grandest Stage

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

This Saturday night, Edge will take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame. It is a deserving honor to a very deserving performer.

With that being said, the days of Edge competing were brought to a sudden end last April. Through the past decade or so, the man has had many excellent moments at WrestleMania.

What are the best of the best? Let's find out!

10. 2002

For those wondering, I will not be counting Edge appearing at Wrestle Mania XV. That event was horrific enough, but that was the "perfect" Attitude Era...

In 2002, Edge was wrestling Booker T in Toronto.

That sounds like a great match on paper. It had two wonderful competitors in a nice mid-card feud. Well, it didn't exact go smoothly.

Edge beat Booker in about seven minutes. The feud was over a shampoo commercial, and it was just a pure "filler" segment on the show.

Disappointing!

At WrestleMania 23, Edge was one of many in the Money in the Bank match.

The battle opened the show, and it was a very good 30 minutes. However, Edge was not a major part of the show.

He was banged up heading into the event and was never going to win. Jeff Hardy delivered a huge move to take him out, and he wasn't seen again.

Great match, but Edge had very little to do with it.

Edge was the reigning World Champion.

Big Show and John Cena were the challengers in this triple-threat match.

The match was very entertaining, but it showcased Show and Cena. Edge lost his title on this night, and it seemed like a foregone conclusion from the beginning.

Lucky for us, Edge and Cena made up for it with an incredible Last Man Standing match a few weeks later at Backlash.

Once again, Edge was the reigning World Champion.

His opponent on this night was Alberto Del Rio. The match opened up WrestleMania last year, and it was a very good battle for the belt.

Edge ended up picking up the victory, but the weeks to follow were the real story...

Edge found himself in a World Title match once again.

He had won the Royal Rumble in shocking fashion. The current World Champion, Chris Jericho, was waiting for him.

The two would have a perfect story to tell. Edge was learning how to be a good guy, while Jericho was a great bad guy.

For whatever reason, it never worked well. Jericho cheated to win, their feud was cut short and Edge was abruptly turned from face to heel for a few months.

Edge eventually did "get over" as a face, but it took another turn later on in the year.

5. 2000

Edge and Christian had a great series of matches with the Hardyz and Dudleyz.

In 2000, all three teams took it to a new level. With the tag titles on the line, a triangle ladder match was perfect for the show.

Everybody brought their best, but Edge and Christian picked up the win.

It was one of the greatest matches I had ever seen. Years later, it is still just as entertaining.

4. 2006

Honestly, this was my match of the year in 2006.

Edge and Mick Foley had a great feud heading into WrestleMania. It was shocking to read in the Hardcore Diaries that Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy was not fond of their build-up.

In the end, it didn't matter.

Edge and Foley more than delivered an excellent Hardcore match. Both men put on a show deserving of the grand stage, and Edge picked up a huge victory.

His permanent main event status was all but confirmed after this performance.

3. 2001

Once again, all three teams brought their best, with Edge and Christian leaving as the tag team champions. This time, it was a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match.

Add in Lita! Add in Spike Dudley! Add in Rhyno!

What more could you ask for?

If anybody has not seen this match, I highly suggest doing so. If WrestleMania 2000 didn't put these men on the map, this event sure did.

2. 2005

I can't comment on the match.

However, I can comment on Edge having the biggest victory of his career. Being the first ever Money in the Bank winner was big enough, but it was what Edge did afterwards that really counted.

He became a great pair with Lita. His heel turn took off big time after WrestleMania 21. Even his battles with Matt Hardy were memorable.

All of this took place while he held this briefcase. In early 2006, he finally cashed in.

The rest is history.

1. 2008

Some fans think being in the closing match at WrestleMania is the highest honor.

Others think facing Undertaker at WrestleMania is the highest honor.

In 2008, Edge got to do both, as he defended his World Title against The Deadman.

I still remember the feud to this day. The men had many battles in 2008, but this one stood above the rest. Not only was it on the grand stage of Mania, but Edge did something very few have done.

He made you believe the undefeated streak was ending. Make no mistake, we all "knew" Taker would win, but the Rated-R Superstar hit all the right points during his promos.

The match was instantly a "must-see" event, and both men came through. Edge competed in his first and only "real" WrestleMania main event and performed in a major, major way.

Undertaker may have picked up the gold, but Edge showed exactly why he was a future legend. This weekend, he gets his WWE Hall of Fame induction.
