Top 10 Best Shots of the 2012 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami
The 2012 Sony Ericsson Open saw Novak Djokovic as the victor over Andy Murray in the final 6-1, 7-6 (4).
The Serb had not dropped a set all tournament, but he was not the only player who exceeded our expectations.
All of the athletes played phenomenal matches, especially in the hot sun and the slow surfaces of Key Biscayne, FL.
Many marvelous points and shots were played, and I was happy to have been there in person to witness the action.
Here are the top 10 hottest shots of the week's event.
10. Nadal Fakes out Nishikori
1 of 10Rafa should have lost the point twice and still managed to hit a winner in the end.
9. Jo Takes a Page out of Federer's Book
2 of 10This drop volley was executed to perfection as Rafa could not make the slightest play on the ball. Well-done Tsonga!
8. A-Rod Hits the Bullseye
3 of 10Andy Roddick was determined to not only get to the ball, but to also strike a clean winner into the corner.
7. Rafa Hits a Banana Shot Passing Shot off the Forehand
4 of 10I have a feeling this is not the first time he has hit this shot...(sarcasm intended).
6. Kohlschreiber Puts on a Show
5 of 10Watch from 3:26-3:47 to see Philipp Kohlschreiber showcase his all-court skills.
5. Nole Turns Defense to Offense
6 of 10Novak scrambled just to make David Ferrer play an extra shot, but he wound up in control of the point as quick as the blink of an eye.
4. Nole Turns Defense to Offense
7 of 10Deja Vu? Look at 4:56-5:26 to see Djokovic outperform himself.
3. Berdych Tells Dimitrov to Take a Seat...and He Does
8 of 10Tomas Berdych and Grigor Dimitrov were continually slipping on the hard-court surface the whole day, but it only took the form of a highlight reel when the Bulgarian played tennis from a height below the net.
Go to 8:10-8:50 to see Dimitrov hit a strangely improvised stroke and still lose the point.
2. Tomic's Forehand-Swinging Drop Shot in Disguise
9 of 10The winning shot at 1:54-2:10 was well disguised, but Bernard Tomic does have a habit of hitting "what in the world is that?" shots.
Nevertheless, the shot was brilliant and it won him the point, so kudos to the Aussie.
1. Roddick Hits Four Straight Winners to Break Federer
10 of 10Andy played a decent match against Roger, but this one return game was quite significant on the outcome of the match.
He was on fire in this game, and he consolidated the break while holding until the match was over.
At 9:20-10:13, Roddick unleashes the forehand from 2004.
