WWE WrestleMania 28: Brodus Clay Possibly Getting a Match at the Big PPV

Drake OzMay 31, 2018

Brodus Clay received a big push a few months back that saw him squash a bunch of the WWE’s lower-card workers, but that fizzled away just about as quickly as it came.

But seemingly out of nowhere, the WWE decided to restart that push a few weeks ago and have Clay squash some fellow WWE stars on Raw and SmackDown once again. Obviously, though, the big guy is still without a feud.

Yet, we apparently could still see “The Funkasaurus” compete in a match at the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year, WrestleMania 28.

There has been talk of giving Brodus Clay a quick squash match at WrestleMania 28 according to F4Wonline.com.

"

Really? What a terrible idea.

While Clay’s first three or four squash matches were fine to establish him as likable big man who just so happens to be a monster, those squashes got really old really quickly. Once he started to run out of guys to destroy in less than a minute, many of us began to think, “Hey, when the hell is Clay gonna get a feud?”

Well, he still doesn’t have one, and now, the creative team is considering having him actually squash someone again? At WrestleMania?

If the WWE wanted to help get Clay over more, perhaps they should have thrown him into the Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny match at Mania rather than even consider putting on a 60-second squash match on the grandest stage of them all.

Even someone who likes Clay (like me) would probably say that any type of match that lasts less than a minute or two has no place at WrestleMania. Save the squashes for Raw and SmackDown

And if you want to get Clay over, then give him a legitimate feud after WrestleMania, not a short match at it.

Note: As part of the new WWE blog, I'll be asking all of the B/R wrestling readers for questions for a new mailbag that I will post on Fridays. It will be a slideshow featuring 10-20 questions and answers on a wide range of topics. You can submit questions either through Formspring or Twitter, and the best ones will be answered in the B/R mailbag.
