WrestleMania 28: CM Punk vs Chris Jericho Will Be Better Than Rock vs. John Cena

Eric BallMar 27, 2012

The WWE world is losing their collective minds in anticipation of The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28 this sunday in Miami. Some are deeming in the match of the century.

Too bad it’s going to be all hype and little substance. The anticipation of is reaching unattainable heights and I don’t really know why.

The Rock is a legit movie star at this point: he isn’t risking serious injury when he has multiple movies to shoot after the event. Rock has to shake off the rust and fans don’t want to see that.

Cena is the mega star of the sport right now and is looking to get on The Rock’s level in the entertainment industry.

Not going to happen.

Rock will win in a match that disappoints, which will be a rough way to end the festivities after a much better bout before them.

Assuming Rock/Cena is the finale on Sunday, CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho is going to be the lead-in match that steals the show.

The build up with Jericho making fun of Punk’s family history has been compelling, and both wrestlers are some of the most physical and exciting in the ring.

Punk is on fire and has plenty of built up anger to unleash onto an unsuspecting Jericho. Did you see what he did to Christian on Monday Night Raw last night? That was raw emotion and it’s all going to be directed at Jericho on Sunday.

The championship belt is on the line and if Jericho wins, it rearranges the entire pecking order of the WWE. Both of these wrestlers are going to be heavily featured for the remainder of the year.

The stakes are incredibly high.

The Rock is going to vanish for the next couple of months after this side-show of a bout. The match doesn’t really have any short-term ramifications.

Don’t let the hype sucker you in: Punk vs. Jericho is the real main event, not Rock vs. Cena.
