WWE WrestleMania 28: 7 Main Event Matches We May See Next Year
While we are all waiting in anticipation for WrestleMania 28 and the highly touted match between The Rock and John Cena, it makes you wonder what's next for the event in 2013.
Could there be another match of this magnitude that can withstand 12 months of planning, build, drama and anticipation?
Can there be a match where two opponents can rise above the hate, withstand the opportunity to strike early and build something as big as Rock/Cena of this year?
Here are some possible main-event matches we could see in 2013 at WrestleMania 29.
The Rock vs. John Cena
1 of 7It happened with Undertaker and HHH; it could happen with these two as well.
Let's not hope so. This has been a long roller coaster that needs to come to an end.
The Rock needs a better connection to the fans, and Cena needs a new hook and feud.
Both would have to outshine what is expected of them to make this happen again.
Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust
2 of 7If it's built right, this could trump them all.
Think of the Rhodes boys battling it out for daddy's approval.
There has been tension before, and there could be tension again. Just needs to be written correctly.
This would be something the fans have been asking for.
Steve Austin vs. CM Punk
3 of 7I wanted this to happen this year.
The two anti-heroes of the generation lock elbows. What in the world would be left of the building after these two went at it?
I don't really see it happening because Austin hasn't been in the ring in years, but we can always hope and wonder what could have been.
Christian vs. Edge
4 of 7Another retired WWE superstar who was inducted into the Hall of Fame who comes back to wrestle and fight an old friend.
Wow, doesn't that seem so familiar?
Well, since Edge had to retire so abruptly, it makes sense, especially how Edge insulted Christian at SummerSlam last year.
If it ever went down, it would be awesome.
HHH vs. HBK
5 of 7Everything really hinges on what happens this weekend.
HHH and HBK are a lightning rod and can light it up in any arena in the United States at any time.
Can they withhold their animosity toward each other for a whole year to make it all happen at WM 29?
Some wrestlers can pick up where they leave off. These two can do that.
Sting vs. John Cena
6 of 7Two of the most popular wrestlers of our generation lock up.
I don't see the forbidden fruit happening with Sting and Undertaker meeting up, so why not this kind of match?
Both are the same size and could sell for each other. It could be a very fine match.
Only problem is I don't think Sting will ever join the WWE.
Kane vs. Undertaker
7 of 7If he has one more match in him, this is the way to go.
The two most iconic wrestlers in terms of chemistry go at it one more time. There's no greater tale than that of Kane and Undertaker. And if you add Paul Bearer in the mix, everything comes full circle.
Imagine Kane putting Undertaker down, proving he was always the better brother or that Undertaker sends Kane out in a coffin?
Just makes me that much more excited.
