WWE WrestleMania 28: 5 Reasons Why Chris Jericho Will Crush CM Punk

David LevinJun 7, 2018

It will be the greatest match of the night. And when "The Best There Was" meets "The Best There Is," all hell will truly break loose.

I cannot wait to see Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk. It is the match to end all matches for the night. And while Hell in a Cell will be dynamic and earth shattering, I truly believe we will all be talking about this one for years to come.

We have Jericho on one side who is still dynamic, but is using more of his mouth and not his skill to bring it to Punk. He still has mat skills and is a great tactician, but he has lost a step (IMO).

Punk is the enigma that drives the WWE and the new generation of fans. They love his cocky attitude and his epitome of confidence.

When two heads like these collide, look out.

Here are some reasons why Jericho will come out on top.

An Angry Punk Is a Good Punk

1 of 5

The old theory "what does not kill him makes him stronger," definitely applies here.

Punk loses the belt after having it since last year—when he chases a title, he becomes more alive.

His banter is better, the shoot interviews could come back and the intensity is there.

This angle with Jericho is good, but losing could be even better.

Everyone Drops a Title at WrestleMania 28

The theory is simple: If everyone loses a title at WM 28, then Punk has to drop the title as well.

We have been after the WWE (and TNA for that matter) to keep the straps on champions longer, which they have done. But if you drop these titles now, you have new feuds that lead to better matches toward SummerSlam.

Planning ahead is always good, and the WWE may be one step ahead of the curve.

Maybe a Jericho/John Cena Angle Is in the Works

While it looks like Cena is not in line for a WWE title shot any time soon, the idea of Jericho/Cena is good and could have some legs.

At some point, Jericho could leave the WWE, and the belt would be placed back on Cena (oh, like that has not happened).

Then we could see a Cena/Punk angle again.

Punk Takes on a New Angle

4 of 5

We will see a new "superstar" in the WWE.

For years, CM Punk has prided himself as the "straight edge" superstar who lives a clean life and is still a champion.

Jericho has gotten into his head. Mind games are great when it comes to matches like these, and the loser transforms. In this case, Punk embraces the "family" tendencies and takes on a new persona. It's just a thought and a great way to make himself even more accepted because he becomes more dynamic in character.

Jericho's Last Stand

5 of 5

He will claim the title and hold on to it long enough to continue to battle with Punk and move to another WWE superstar.

Maybe an upstart. Maybe Kofi Kingston. Maybe Dolph Ziggler (which would be epic).

Jericho can help make another superstar a champion.

While he is getting older, the one thing Jericho can do is sell the hell out of a match. That is what he will be asked to do.
