WrestleMania 28: John Cena and The Rock Will Fall Flat with Fans in Epic Clash

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

It's been an amazing run, but the most hyped story in WWE is about to come to an end, proving the finish is never quite as good as we hoped it would be.

You can also throw in the journey being a lackluster one if we are willing to cut down this match one year in the making.

On the road to Cena vs. The Rock, we have passed through the hopes of Cena turning heel, had to wade through a few months of Kane promising a stirring turn of events and saw The Rock read notes from his hands.

Through it all, we have noticed one blaring note that is alarming so close to the all-important WrestleMania.

WWE is winging it.

Cena is still very much the man that took on the challenge to battle the most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment. Cena is about to take on the world, and he is still the man thousands love to boo.

We had a brief clash with Kane to watch and keep us fat and happy until WrestleMania arrived. There was so much that could have come from such an encounter, but instead the battle concluded with a thud.

There is no reason to think that this lingering rivalry that has been, largely, phoned in by The Rock and not the least bit helped by Cena will make us all shake our heads in amazement.

Instead, we are preparing for a letdown of epic proportions.

The Rock will bow out as he should. There is no way a part-timer should take home a huge victory and defy the face of the WWE.

The predictability is not what bothers me, but the way this has gone down. I ask you. If you knew that The Rock would come back for one year to put Cena over, and bring back millions of jaded fans, would you have done the same things over?

No, the WWE has already failed at what could have been a much grander build up and a more transformative battle.

Instead, The Rock was brought back for the sake of his name and the bright spotlight he brings the sport.

It's just too bad none of it was all that well thought out.
