28 Days of 'Mania: 5 Things That Must Happen on Sunday

David LevinJun 2, 2018

Disclaimer: This will be an ongoing series for the next 28 days leading up to the biggest event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania 28. The idea behind the piece is to build more momentum for the event and give you, the Bleacher Report fan, a chance to read, comment and weigh in with opinions about the WWE, the business and the event. It is my hope this becomes something positive and we all enjoy the ride for the next four weeks to Miami and the biggest event of the wrestling year. Enjoy.

Six days and counting...

You can feel the excitement in the air, almost touch the thickness of the tension. This is what WrestleMania is all about.

If you are like me, you can't wait to see what happens on the "Go Home" show tonight on Raw and hope for something huge on Smackdown to keep my interest at a fever pitch until Sunday.

It's like being a kid at Christmas or having to get all your chores done on the weekend so you can play outside.

Oh, how I want this to happen, now. Oh, how we all need our WM 28 fix. We have waited long enough. We have been good children all year long, so please give us our treat.

And with WM 28 knocking on our door, there are certain things we want, no we must see. They are non-negotiable. If this were a contract signing, like Tim Tebow, there would be a declaration of money, fame and glory. But this is wrestling, so it's pin falls, submission holds and brawling.

These are a few things we must see on Sunday night.

Chris Jericho Must Beat CM Punk

1 of 5

This is a must.

Now that Jericho is unleashing Punk's personal life on camera (and it is working), then having Punk lose only leads to one thing.

If Punk's image changes in some way, does he fight the demons and win or do they overcome him and, well, he drinks?

It's a dynamic I did not see coming when this angle was written.

There Has to Be Some Surprise in the Evening's Events

2 of 5

Lord Tensai is not a surprise anymore.

There has to be something more. Rob Van Dam. Kharma. Trish Stratus. Maybe MVP (it is Miami, after all).

Wrestlemania is the type of event that leaves us stunned and excited. There has to be a game-altering event.

The Streak Must Continue...and

3 of 5

Somehow Shawn Michaels needs to beat both HHH and The Undertaker.

While he is "only" a referee, he needs to put HHH down for the count, Undertaker needs to pin him and then HBK needs to put The Undertaker out as well.

We could all see HBK standing over both fallen wrestlers. After all, Undertaker did say he was the "best."

The Teddy Long/John Laurinaitis Thing Needs to End Sunday

4 of 5

It is just taking up time, and it's a bad story line, in my opinion.

If they want a "Survivor Series"-like angle, make it a better one. Go to one brand. Personally, take them both out of the general manager slot and give it to Steven Regal.

That would make everyone happy.

The Rock and John Cena Must Both "Win" This Match

5 of 5

Regardless of who gets the pin, both icons must leave the ring as "winners."

I think this is how The Miz gets involved in this match. But it will only work if both men beat the holy hell out of The Miz, setting up something for him and either Cena or The Rock at Summer Slam.

If both the wrestlers give us the show they are capable of, then hopefully there will not be any interference and this will be a "Match of the Year"-type event.
