WrestleMania 28: Latest News, Card Preview, Spoilers and More

Tim DanielsMay 31, 2018

WrestleMania is just six days away. After months of buildup—or a year, if you're talking about John Cena vs. The Rock—fans are ready for the year's biggest event.

It's the most intriguing card the WWE has produced in years.

Even without Cena and Rocky battling in what's been deemed the biggest match of all time, it would have been a terrific card. CM Punk and Chris Jericho's feud has been tremendous, albeit overlooked, and the rematch between Triple H and Undertaker gets a boost from Shawn Michaels.

The show provides an opportunity for Vince McMahon and Co. to win over new fans or bring back old ones, but the four-hour pay-per-view must live up to the hype for that to happen.

Let's take a look at the updated card, latest news and everything else you need to know before tonight's Raw telecast, which should simply tie up any loose strings.

Updated WrestleMania Card

Mick Foley in Tag Match?

2 of 5

There's still one spot available on Team Teddy in the 12-man tag team match, and it appears that Mick Foley wouldn't mind taking it.

The hardcore legend tweeted last night about checking some messages he received from the Smackdown general manager.

No shortage of names have been linked to the final opening on the face squad. Most notably fan favorite Rey Mysterio, but there have been no signs of the masked superstar since his knee injury last year.

He could always be a surprise addition, of course.

Adding Foley would be another attempt to appeal to the Attitude Era audience, which has moved away from the product during the Cena Era. Between The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker and Chris Jericho, the company is clearly trying to reignite former fans' interest.

Foley has been pretty entertaining in his brief appearance at Royal Rumble and is still the king of cheap pops, making him good for a laugh or two. His in-ring skills aren't what they once were due to all of the bumps and bruises over the years, but a massive tag match will hide those issues.

Assuming Mysterio isn't ready to roll, Foley would provide another boost to an already stacked card. Tonight’s Raw should be telling about who will get the spot.

Will Weather Play a Role?

3 of 5

This year's WrestleMania will take place at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. The venue doesn't have a roof, which leaves the possibility of rain putting a damper on the event. There will be protection for the ring, but rain would certainly leave the fans in a rough spot.

According to the Weather Channel, the forecast for April 1 is looking shaky. The forecast high of 84 degrees would be fine, but the 40 percent chance of PM showers can't be making Vince McMahon a happy camper right now.

Florida is known for its pop-up rain showers, which shouldn't hurt the year's marquee event too much. If there's a persistent rain, however, that's when the WWE would start worrying about the weather overshadowing an otherwise terrific show.

Right now, the odds remain in the WWE's favor, but it's definitely something to watch in the coming days as the forecast gets more precise.

Undertaker's Shaved Head

4 of 5

During his extended break following last year's victory over Triple H, pictures began to surface of Undertaker after cutting his long hair. When he returned to the company, he wore a wig that looked terrible, and the WWE proceeded to run a vignette of him cutting it.

Since then, Taker has been wearing a hood to hide his head, leaving questions about how the company will handle it at WrestleMania. He obviously can't wrestle an entire match with his hood on, so he might finally be shown without it on Raw to decrease some of the shock value.

For whatever reason, the lack of hair makes Undertaker look much older and more fragile. While that could certainly be part of the storyline, it's more likely something he didn't consider before cutting it last year.

I wouldn't go as far as saying his look will ruin the match, but it definitely seems like something the company continues to struggle with, since it has refused to show his head.

WrestleMania 29 Main Event

5 of 5

Apparently, WWE executives liked the one-year build to a WrestleMania match so much that they might do it again for next year's show.

Justin LaBar of WrestleZone.com reports the company is looking at a Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels tentative main event for 2013.

On the surface, it sounds like a great idea and makes a lot of sense. The two friends have been pitted against each other by Undertaker in recent weeks. A potential finish that leaves Triple H mad at Michaels would lead right into an announcement on the next night's Raw.

As somebody who really enjoys veteran stars coming back, it would be a dream match to watch. That said, it's important Vince McMahon doesn't fall in love with the concept of bringing back former superstars to steal the WrestleMania spotlight.

The Rock has already said he'll be involved at next year's show, which will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, but he won't say to what extent. Eventually, these guys won't be around to save the day, so other superstars will need pushes.

This rumor also leans toward Undertaker's streak continuing. Most fans expected that anyway, but a new opponent will need to emerge if Triple H and Michaels will both be busy. Those two have faced him for four straight years.
