WWE WrestleMania: Ranking the Best Vince McMahon Matches

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

Vince McMahon created WrestleMania. If one thing best represents his past, it is creating such an amazing event each and every year. It is "his baby."

With all things in this business, you eventually end up in the ring. Even the boss!

While he has had many entertaining battles in the past, I believe he is done wrestling. Thus, there is no better time than to take a look back at his Mania matches...

4. WrestleMania 26

As most know, I don't care for "fantasy booking."

However, I was completely shocked Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon was given 20 minutes.

Including the video, entrances, the special guest referee being announced and the lumberjacks to surround the ring, it just became too much. Then, the match had to begin.

Nobody expected Vince and Bret to wrestle a classic. Nobody thought one single move would even be executed. Well, everybody was right!

The Hart family destroyed Mr. McMahon, and they all celebrated. It was the right ending, but it just took way too long.

3. WrestleMania 17

Remember, this is just my opinion.

I loved watching the father and son battle. It was a great match to have in 2001, and both men worked hard. Just like 2010, there was a special guest referee and tons of distractions.

Even with that, the face went over (as they should), and Vince got what was coming to him. The entire event was excellent, as was this street fight.

The two did have another match against each other on Raw a few months later. Very few remember that, but it was just as exciting.

2. WrestleMania 19

3 of 4

This event did very poorly in terms on PPV buys. I believe the Rumble event from January did better than 2003's Mania show.

One of the many theories why is that too much focus was on Vince McMahon vs. Hulk Hogan. I certainly understand those thoughts, but it didn't matter once the bell rang.

Vince and Hogan had a wonderful street fight. Yes, it was another match with a stipulation. With Hogan's career on the line, you knew the crowd would be all over this one.

Throw in a surprise appearance from Roddy Piper, and you have a "WrestleMania moment!"

As usual, the face went over (as they should). Vince lost to Hogan, and they never had another match inside the ring.

Only one match was better from Mr. McMahon at the grandest stage of them all...

1. WrestleMania 22

I absolutely loved this event. Top to bottom, it ranks up there with the best WWE has ever put on. One of the many reasons was this match.

Vince McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels in a No Holds Barred match was rated by many as "Match of the Year." I wouldn't go that far, but I wouldn't argue against it either.

Once again, it just shows how little "wrestling" means in this business. The actual use of "moves" does not mean much of anything.

Vince and Shawn didn't need anything flips. They didn't need a million rest hold and reversals that mean nothing. Some may need to do all of that. Two top-notch performers on this night didn't.

HBK and the McMahons had an excellent feud going, and it needed a huge showing at WrestleMania. With the Show Stopper in the ring, you knew exactly what you were getting.

Add in the Spirit Squad. Add in Shane McMahon. Add in Jim Ross having a passion-filled call. Add in an extremely satisfying ending with the face (rightfully) winning.

All of that adds up to Vince McMahon's best WrestleMania of all-time.
