WrestleMania 28: Why The Miz Is Poised to Be Big Winner in Miami
It may seem like The Miz hasn't won a match in months and that all hope is lost for the former WWE Champion, but as WrestleMania XXVIII draws ever closer there is reason to believe that wrestling's biggest event could bring a reversal of fortunes for The Awesome One.
The Miz isn't currently scheduled for a match after retaining the WWE Championship against John Cena in the main event last year, but there are two openings in the match pitting John Laurinaitis' team against Teddy Long's team. There seems to be a decent chance that those positions will remain unfilled until the night of WrestleMania with Miz taking one of them.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Most would probably expect Miz to take a spot on Team Johnny since Laurinaitis' squad is going to have all heels, but he continues to fail in his attempts to impress the interim RAW general manager. With that in mind, expect the creative team to throw a curveball by having Long form a reluctant alliance with Miz and adding him to his team.
With Miz on the face team he would get face reactions throughout the match and tease a face turn as well. He will likely be the focal point of the match and a thorn in the side of Laurinaitis' team. Just when it looks like Team Teddy is about to pick up the win, however, Miz will turn on his partners and find a way to help Team Johnny reign victorious.
In the end it would be revealed that Miz and Laurinaitis were working together all along and the only reason why Laurinaitis wouldn't allow Miz on his WrestleMania team was so he could take down Team Teddy from the inside. Miz wouldn't technically be on the winning side in the match, but from a storyline perspective this would be great for him.
He has been buried and embarrassed over the past several weeks and he has largely looked like a joke since dropping the WWE Championship last year. He desperately needs something big to happen in order to get back to his previous level as a main-event heel, and this could be the first step in that direction.
After The Miz helps Laurinaitis, the newly-crowned general manager of both RAW and SmackDown can offer him a world title shot as a reward. Since Laurinaitis controls both shows he could either have him go against presumed WWE Champion CM Punk or presumed World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus.
Even if Miz loses in either one of those feuds, he would benefit just from being a major player once again. He hasn't been booked well in quite some time and he wasn't even booked very well when he was champion, so he just needs to look strong against top guys, even in losing efforts.
For whatever reason many like to criticize The Miz and claim he isn't a main-event caliber guy, but he certainly has that potential. He isn't the world's best in-ring worker, but he is much better than he used to be and can certainly put on a good match. Also, his promo work is exceptional when compared with other current stars.
Miz has all the tools necessary to be a title contender and that is exactly what he will be in the near future. Provided he acts as a hired gun for Laurinaitis and screws Team Teddy out of the match at WrestleMania, Miz will be back on the track to stardom.
