28 Days of WrestleMania: 8 Matches We Never Saw

David LevinJun 7, 2018

Disclaimer: This will be an ongoing series for the next 28 days leading up to the biggest event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania 28. The idea behind the piece is to build more momentum for the event and give you, the Bleacher Report fan, a chance to read, comment and weigh in with opinions about the WWE, the business and the event. It is my hope this becomes something positive and we all enjoy the ride for the next four weeks to Miami and the biggest event of the wrestling year. Enjoy.

Some of the best matches happen at WrestleMania.

With wrestling's biggest night comes some of the biggest and best stars in moments that capture the imagination and live in our memories.

Rock/Austin.

HBK/Austin.

Undertaker/HHH.

Steamboat/Savage.

They all captured our hearts and our minds and have a reason to be called the "best of all time."

That is what WrestleMania does.

But, over the years, there are matches would could have seen and will never see.

Age, death, injury or lack of support will not permit this from happening. Also, the fact that when these matches would have sold out any arena in the country were to happen or could have happened, there was no support by creative for making them.

With the generational gaps, it cannot happen.

These matches could be featured matches at WrestleMania. These matches could stand up to anything on the card today. These matches are the ones we would have talked about for decades.

These are the ones we wished we had seen.

Owen Hart vs. CM Punk

1 of 8

Given a few more years, Owen Hart may have been able to lay claim to being the "Best There Ever Will Be."

As a wrestler, he may have been the most underrated of the 1990s. His power and skill was impressive and his ability got better and better.

Yes, he could have been better than brother Bret, and challenging the best in the world today would have been a treat for everyone.

Bret Hart vs. Daniel Bryan

2 of 8

If Hart was the "Excellence in Execution," I sure would have loved to have seen him in a match with Bryan.

The two technicians would have put on a show for everyone.

Hart was the consummate standard of what wrestling should have been in the 1990s.

Bryan, when he is on, is one of the best ever when he is on the mat.

What a show.

Roddy Piper vs. Randy Savage

3 of 8

Someone tell me why this was not a main event at WrestleMania?

These two legends and the best mic men of their generation could arguably have carried the company, had it not been for Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon wanting one person to run a one-man show.

These two could wrestle, talk, break the rules and be divas all in one shining moment.

Someone missed the boat on this one, big time.

Kharma vs. Chyna

4 of 8

Could you see these two in the ring?

The brute power of Kharma, who would actually be able to control Chyna with her strength. Chyna with her tough-as-nails approach to "wrestling."

This could have been the match of the century that helped to keep women's wrestling on the map and in the mainstream.

Christian vs. Shawn Michaels

5 of 8

They would be ideal to compete with each other.

HBK facing Captain Charisma.

We all know how great Michaels is in pay-per-view events. Christian is a lot better than people give him credit for.

Mr. Perfect vs. Rick Rude

6 of 8

Another one of those misses.

This could have been the feud of a decade if it had been done right. Both were magnificent in the ring as talkers and performers.

You could not ask for better, in-shape wrestlers.

Maybe the two most underrated wrestlers ever to come to the WWF.

Ricky Steamboat vs. Shawn Michaels

7 of 8

It is one of those "what if" matches.

Not sure if anyone else had thought about it, but I sure have.

Technically, Steamboat and Michaels are as good, if not better, than Flair.

And a match like theirs could outlive Savage/Steamboat.

The Miz vs. Shawn Michaels

8 of 8

This would have to have a little tweaking to it.

The Miz is not on Michaels' level yet, but given another push, he could be.

I would love to hear the verbal assaults by both wrestlers.
