WWE Rumors: Did John Cena's Car Accident in Philadelphia Really Happen?

Justin LaBarMar 19, 2012

WWE.com is reporting that John Cena was in a car accident today in Philadelphia, PA, the site of tonight's RAW.

The reports claim that the SUV Cena was traveling in was rear-ended by a tractor trailer. The story provides details about how Cena will get medical attention when he arrives to the Wells Fargo Center.

Local fans have emailed me and said that they heard Cena was scheduled to appear on a local television station to promote RAW and the station announced he wasn't able to make it.

So, as always, we have to ask is this real or not?

The language WWE uses in their story about how this could affect him certainly is very storyline-like, as WrestleMania is only two weeks away.

However, I don't think WWE would bring in local media, allow them to advertise him, and then have him not show up courtesy of a fake accident.

Vince McMahon has said it before, most notably on the "Self-Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior" DVD, in which he says that "no showing" is the biggest disservice you can do to the WWE audience.

If this accident does turn out to be included as an angle between Cena and The Rock, I am curious to see how the audience reacts.

I have been saying this feud is great because of the real tension between the two. It is art imitating life, but a car accident might be a bit too much for some people.

In relation to tonight's RAW, I explain here why the second to last RAW before WrestleMania is toughest episode every year for WWE creative.
