John Cena: Car Accident Won't Stop WWE Star from Owning The Rock on Raw

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

The Road to WrestleMania can be a bumpy one. Just ask John Cena, who was in a car accident on his way to do some media rounds in Philadelphia, where Raw takes place on Monday night.

According to WWE.com, Cena's car was reportedly rear-ended by a tractor trailer as he was en route to a local Philadelphia television station:

"

WWE.com has just gotten word that John Cena has been involved in an automobile accident in Philadelphia. The SUV the WWE Superstar was traveling in was reportedly rear ended by a tractor trailer. Police arrived at the scene and no immediate injuries were reported.

Cena is scheduled to meet with WWE medical personnel when he arrives at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center for tonight’s WWE Raw SuperShow event.

The fact that WWE reported it makes you think it could be an angle to play up his feud with The Rock. Regardless, it doesn't sound like anything to be alarmed about right now.

One thing's for sure: There is no way it will stop Cena from doing his thing against Rock tonight on Raw. We have seen a new Cena on television for the last four weeks, one that actually makes you interested in seeing what he is going to do next.

No longer is he awash in meaningless feuds that he clearly doesn't care about, telling kid jokes and laughing during all his promos. He has gotten an attitude and feels like an actual character fighting for something since Rock came back to television.

This week's Raw has been built around what happens with Shawn Michaels, Triple H and The Undertaker, with little mention of what's going on with Rock and Cena.

That is actually a good thing. Last week's dueling concerts took some of air out of what had otherwise been a great build.

Rock is going to do what he always does, which may not work for everyone. But Cena is going to be the star of the show, car accident or not. He is going to school Rock on the microphone once again, telling him all the reasons that his act is stale and no one wants to see him back.

Cena is like a Mack Truck right now, running over everything that gets in his way. He had a little setback in the "City of Brotherly Love" this afternoon, but come nightfall, he will be back to his "attitudinal" self.
