Lehigh vs. Xavier: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks may want to celebrate after their big upset over Duke, but they have to prepare for the Xavier Musketeers, who are coming off a controversial win over Notre Dame.

The Mountain Hawks were propelled by a monumental performance by C.J McCollum, who dropped 30 points to go along with six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Xavier, which got a boost from Tu Holloway's 25 points, benefited from a controversial lane-violation call on Notre Dame late in the game.

What They're Saying

Hoops World's Yannis Koutroupis thinks Tu Holloway will be the difference and Xavier will advance.

"

"Xavier. After an up-and-down regular season, we’re going to go with Holloway and the Musketeers making those struggles a thing of the past by moving onto the Sweet 16."

"

ESPN's Mark Schlabach, on the other hand, won't let us overlook C.J McCollum.

"

"Against Duke, McCollum looked like the best player on the floor, out-dueling Blue Devils guards Austin Rivers and Seth Curry, who are considered potential NBA draft picks. Duke's guards struggled to contain McCollum, who made nine of 24 shots with six rebounds and six assists."

"

Lehigh Player to Watch: Mackey McKnight

I'm going to get away from the obvious. You know you have to pay attention to C.J. McCollum, so I'll give you another name:

Mackey McKnight.

The little sophomore guard is quick as a cat, as he was able to constantly get past Duke defenders and create matchup problems all around the court for the Blue Devils.

More importantly, however, was McKnight's impact on defense. He recorded three steals and made life miserable for opposing guards all night long. It wouldn't be surprising to see him pick up Holloway on Sunday.

Xavier Player to Watch: Dezmine Wells

Once again, the obvious choice is Tu Holloway, but I'll give you someone else.

Lehigh has terrific guard play, but they aren't all that impressive underneath. If Duke had someone better than the Plumlee brothers, they would have been able to give the Mountain Hawks some real problems.

Xavier has that in 6'5" guard-forward Dezmine Wells, who played 39 minutes and scored 14 points to go along with 11 rebounds against Notre Dame. He also got to the line 11 times.

If he can have that type of impact on the inside, Xavier should roll against Lehigh. Also, don't forget about big seven-footer Kenny Frease, either.

Key Matchup: C.J McCollum vs Tu Holloway

OK, I just can't get away from the obvious here.

There might not be a better matchup all tournament than McCollum versus Holloway.

Both players could easily drop 30 points, both players could easily put the team on their back and both players will put on a highlight reel.

These two are going to be extremely fun to watch.

Prediction

Xavier will take advantage of its size and skill on the inside and end Lehigh's magical run, although McCollum and McKnight will keep it close.

Xavier 70, Lehigh 66
