WrestleMania 28: Why We Want to See John Cena's 'Thugonomics' Character Again
Last Monday on Raw we got to witness two very entertaining segments. The Rock closed the show with a Rock Concert which saw him mock John Cena in songs which borrowed from some classics.
The opening segment is what had the slightly more interesting development, in my opinion. John Cena brought back his Thuganomics gimmick and ripped the Rock through a trademark Cena rap which was one of the most entertaining Raw opening segments in years.
Cena came out to his old entrance music and he was decked out in full Thuganomics attire, complete with giant chain and hometown jersey for the city he was in.

This seemed to make many fans in attendance get on Cena's side as he was bringing back memories fans have of when he was first becoming a major force in WWE.
There was a time when the pop Cena would receive was deafening. Everyone in the crowd would get on their feet and Cena's music could barely be heard over the high-pitched wails of female fans and children alike.
Nowadays, Cena is not as popular. His Hogan-like tendencies when it comes to being invincible in the ring have rubbed some people the wrong way and now, it is a mystery as to what kind of reaction Cena will get every time he walks through the curtain.
With the throwback to his old gimmick allowing him to give what many feel is his best promo in years there is one question we must ask about Cena—should he bring this character back for a more extended run?
The idea of him fully converting back to a rapper is not something I think is even a remote possibility at this point, but a short run in the throwback jerseys might not be such a bad idea to explore.
He obviously brought a lot of fans over to his side with his most recent jabs towards the Rock, as was evidenced by Cena winning a poll on WWE.com and Facebook which was held to see who fans felt won the battle.
With WWE's plan of trying to make the fans more evenly split at WrestleMania seeming to finally work, it could be possible that we will see more of Rapper Cena before we get to Mania on April 1.
WWE is probably already banking on Rock getting the bigger ovation, especially considering he will be the hometown hero in Miami, so making Cena as popular as possible between now and then has to be a top priority.
With this being the first time WWE has booked a match a whole year in advance, it is no surprise they are making an extra effort to make the feud as personal for the wrestlers and entertaining for the fans as possible.
There are a lot of unknowns in this situation, but one thing we know for sure is that Cena and The Rock will do everything in their power to make sure they steal the show at WrestleMania.
What do you think—should Cena bring the Thuganomics character back for a bit longer?
