NCAA Tournament Upset Predictions 2012: Which Teams Will Fall on Friday?

It's the most wonderful time of the year (singing), March Madness is finally here! 

Today marks the beginning of a team's historic run for an NCAA championship. We don't know who it's going to be as of now, but an educated guess is a man's best friend right about now.

As I look ahead to the games on Friday there are a few things I notice. The first round is not known for it's excitement, due to the pairings of two very different caliber teams. However, I think we could see a few nail biters and upsets come our way sooner rather than later.

The biggest upset I see commencing on Friday would have to be NC State beating San Diego State. The Aztecs have been up and down all season and are coming off a tough loss, while NC State continues to build momentum and confidence.

San Diego has conference player of the year, Jamal Franklin, but NC plays with heart and an unmatched passion for the game. Look for them to come out strong and motivated as they try to knock off the Aztecs. San Diego better bring their A game if they want to advance to the next round.

Although I would have to say that is the most intriguing match up of the day, many other good teams will be playing on Friday as well including Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, and Missouri. All four teams have a legit shot at competing for a national championship this year. But they are all higher seeds meaning they should advance past Friday with ease.

Duke will match up against Lehigh and will likely make them look like a high school.

The Jayhawks will look to pounce on Detroit early in order to get their starters some rest so they can be ready to play big minutes down the road.

North Carolina will look to demolish Vermont, while a forgotten Missouri team will look to make their case as contenders. 

As always, March Madness will get more interesting as it progresses and the more talented teams face off with one another. However, don't take these next few days for granted when you can turn on the television and find some basketball to watch at almost any point during the day.
