NFL Free Agency: Recapping Every Day 2 Free-Agent Deal
The second day of NFL free agency started strong and seemed to end that way.
If this were a Hollywood B movie, Peyton Hillis and Chad Henne would be the stars. Both players found new homes on Wednesday, along with some of your favorite NFL role players.
No dis to the Laurent Robinson's of the world (he signed with the Jaguars), but the money shot belongs to Peyton Manning and Mario Williams.
At any rate, this is the day when Super Bowl teams are formed. OK, that may be reserved for day two of the NFL draft, but teams were able to plug holes and fill needs on this day.
As free agency continues to keep our Twitter feeds active and our Facebook timelines busy, let's take a peek at some key day two free-agent deals.
Chad Henne Signed with Jacksonville Jaguars
1 of 7I like this move by the Jags, because I’ve always thought that Henne was a decent quarterback.
He can be inconsistent and drive the head coach crazy with some of his decision-making, but he can also toss 3,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.
He’s not expected to be the starter in Jacksonville, but it would not surprise me to see him as the main signal-caller before the season is over.
Peyton Hillis Signed with Kansas City Chiefs
2 of 7Last year’s Madden cover boy found a new home in Kansas City yesterday.
K.C. should have a very formidable rushing attack next season with Hillis and Jamaal Charles.
The only question remaining, offensively, is at quarterback.
The Chiefs allowed Kyle Orton to walk to Dallas and have to go back to the inconsistent play of Matt Cassel.
How far can Cassel and a stable of running backs take this team?
Le’Ron McClain Signed with San Diego Chargers
3 of 7McClain was signed by the Chargers to a three-year deal today.
He once played a large role in the Ravens' ground game, but he spent last season in Kansas City as an afterthought.
He had just 51 yards on 15 carries in 2011, but his production should see a serious increase as he moves farther west.
Laurent Robinson Signed with Jacksonville Jaguars
4 of 7As the guy who covers the Cowboys for this site, it is disappointing to see Robinson sign with another team.
He inked a five-year deal with Jacksonville for $32 million.
During his stint in Dallas last season, Robinson developed an undeniable chemistry with quarterback Tony Romo, and the team seemed inclined to re-sign him.
But Dallas simply couldn’t afford that type of contract for a player who would play the slot.
John Carlson Signed with Minnesota Vikings
5 of 7Carlson has been with the Seahawks for the past four seasons and will spend the next five as a Viking.
His contract with Minnesota is worth $45 million.
The Vikings need as many offensive weapons as they can handle, as running back Adrian Peterson is still recovering from a blown ACL and quarterback Christian Ponder is still developing.
Kyle Orton Signed with Dallas Cowboys
6 of 7I really thought he would end up in D.C., but the Cowboys no longer have to waste a pick on a quarterback in the draft.
By signing Orton to a three-year deal, they have assurance on the bench just in case Romo goes down with an injury.
Frostee Rucker Signed with Cleveland Browns
7 of 7Rucker made the skip to the other side of Ohio by signing with the Browns.
He has a shiny new four-year contract in his back pocket and a defense that truly needs his assistance in tow.
