March Madness Upsets: Easy Picks That Will Make You Look Smart

Andrew KulhaMar 14, 2012

If you do not heed this advice on these sure-bet 2012 March Madness upsets, you will end up looking stupid.

All of your friends will point at you and laugh saying: "Hey look, there's the guy (or gal) that didn't take Andrew Kulha's advice and make the easy upset picks."

They will laugh, and you will bring shame upon your family for generations to come.

All you had to do was make these two easy picks, and it could have drastically changed the way your bracket looks—thus impacting your life.

Here are two upset picks that will make you look smarter:

No. 8 Iowa State vs. No. 9 Connecticut

You literally could not make an easier upset pick. The Huskies of UConn are going to be big players in this tournament, but not many people believe that just yet.

Hop on the bandwagon while there is still room.

They are coached by one of the best coaches in the nation in Jim Calhoun, and remember, this is the team that won the championship last year. Granted, the Huskies are nowhere near the same team, but they are still coached by Calhoun and they still have guard Jeremy Lamb.

He's got one more year of experience, plus the confidence from winning the prize last season. This is a team that can be very dangerous in the tournament.

Pick them to beat the Cyclones here, and don't be hesitant to ride them further in your bracket.

No. 6 UNLV vs. No. 11 Colorado

This Colorado team is extremely undervalued coming into the tournament. The Buffs have major potential to be a big sleeper pick or perhaps even a Cinderella.

They have exceptional three-point shooting—freshman guard Spencer Dinwiddie went 4-for-4 in their Pac-12 championship game win—great post presence and play great defense. They also have a plethora of playmakers, which include senior guard Carlon Brown, who isn't a big name but has all the intangibles of a star player.

These guys are scrappy and they are very confident. UNLV is not going to know what hit it.
