NBA Trade Deadline 2012: 5 Places Michael Beasley Might Land

Servontay MooreJun 7, 2018

The second overall pick in the 2008 draft, Michael Beasley might be on the move again.

Rookie Derrick Williams and Wesley Johnson are starting to develop into NBA stars, and Beasley is starting to see his minutes go down as a result.

With the Timberwolves making it known they are willing to move on without Beasley, here are five teams most likely to be a perfect fit for the once Kansas State star.

Indiana Pacers

1 of 5

Indiana surprised a lot of people by being a standout team in the East this year. Now being the fifth seed in the Eastern conference, it's time to gear up for the playoffs and prepare to match up with the Heat and Bulls.

Beasley could be the missing piece for this young team to make a strong playoff run. With Paul George and Danny Granger on the wings for the Pacers, they have no legitimate backups if one of them  would go down.

By adding Beasley to the roster they could bulk up on their depth on the bench, which is a key to winning those nail-biters late in the season.

Orlando Magic

2 of 5

The Orlando Magic are in every possible trade rumor, either to keep Dwight Howard or to get rid of him. Bringing Beasley to Orlando could help them either way.

This could keep D12 by bringing in a younger swingman to ignite an offense that hasn't been the same since their finals appearance in 2009.

It also can free up some cap room to begin a new era without Howard. According to sources, the Magic are looking to get rid of Jason Richardson's big contract, meaning a perfect fit for Beasley.

Los Angeles Lakers

3 of 5

Los Angeles is a top destination for a lot of players on the trading block and Beasley is one of them.

Beasley would be the young up-tempo player that the Lakers could use in a lot of situations. He could play the role of a Lamar Odom or even the same role Shannon Brown played off the bench.

Also, this would be another weapon for Kobe Bryant who is looking for his sixth NBA championship.

Boston Celtics

A young Michael Beasley could be just what the doctor ordered for the Boston Celtics.

Let's face it, the Celtics' big three isn't getting any younger, so some young knees wouldn't hurt anyone. It's time to start surrounding Rajon Rondo with talent for when the big three actually call it quits.

Last year around this time, Boston traded to get Jeff Green who has been sidelined this whole season due to medical issues. Beasley can be that swingman that the Celtics were looking for in Green.

Under Doc Rivers, Beasley can develop into the star many envisioned when he was taken second overall in the NBA draft.

New Jersey Nets

5 of 5

This might be the best destination for Beasley where he could actually start and thrive in the position with the pieces around him.

Bringing Beasley in could keep Deron Williams in Brooklyn who already has expressed his thoughts on playing somewhere else next year.

We can't forget about the fact that the Nets might land Dwight Howard before Thursday's deadline. What other way to welcome the star to New Jersey than with a young athletic forward like Michael Beasley.
