NCAA Tournament 2012: Games Guaranteed to End in Buzzer Beaters

Gabe ZaldivarMar 13, 2012

Now we get down to what really matters, the games that will excite with close calls and buzzer-beating shots.

There are far too many games to wade through in the first couple days of NCAA tournament action. But this is what we like to call a good problem.

The next few days will be filled with filling out brackets, and then subsequently rolling them into a ball and throwing them into the trash.

These are the games that will serve as possible bracket busters that will have you on the edge of your seat. These are the clashes that make taking the week off of work well worth it.

They are the very reason we love the madness of March. Buzzer-beaters are what will get us up in the morning on Thursday, only hit the sack sometime next week.

No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 13 Montana

The East region is one of the most electrifying on paper, and that includes this matchup that is sure to go down to the wire.

I will even go so far as to put the Grizzlies over a Badgers team that is prone to inconsistent efforts on offense.

Things get messy for Wisconsin, and Montana can put up buckets as they proved in their remarkable run at the tail end of the season, winning 20 of their last 21 games.

No. 4 Michigan and No. 13 Ohio

It's all about the 4 and 13 seeds this year, and I see Michigan pulling this one out late, but not before they get the shock of their lives with a spirited Ohio team that is better than they are being given credit for.

DJ Cooper comes in as the impetus for the Ohio offense, which is a series of unrelenting pick-and-rolls that can eat you to death.

Cooper knows what it takes to win the big game and will have the Bobcats in this one late.

No. 6 San Diego State and No. 11 NC State

I was ready to call this as an actually easy win by NC State, but I have cooled only so much as to call this a razor-thin victory for the Wolfpack.

There is no denying their size advantage and rebound acumen. They also are one of the hotter teams if you consider how well they played Virginia and North Carolina.

However, San Diego State is filled with seasoned players that have experience and chemistry on their side. That will be enough to make this a close one, but it will still go to the lower-seeded NC State.
