WWE News: Most Recent Report on Plans for the Divas at WrestleMania 28

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

The WWE Divas division hasn’t been a priority for as long as I can remember, but at least over the last several years, they’ve been given some sort of spot at WrestleMania.

At the moment, though, there’s no clear-cut Divas feud going on, and thus, it’s looking less and less likely that the women of the WWE will get a match at the biggest pay-per-view of the year.

Or will they?

WWE officials have gone back and forth several times on what the Divas will do at WrestleMania 28.

Before word came down that TV host Maria Menounos is now scheduled to participate with the Divas in Miami, officials had been discussing a program between just Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly – which would have left some of the other prominent Divas out of a match. As we have noted, officials have discussed several other matches including Beth Phoenix vs. Kharma which doesn’t look like it will be happening.

If one thing is clear when it comes to the Divas, it’s that nothing is clear.

Based upon recent developments, however, I would say that the two most likely options are something involving Eve, Zack Ryder and Beth Phoenix, or perhaps a team of baby face Divas headed by Maria Menounos against a team of heel Divas headed by Beth Phoenix.

The latter match would work because Beth teased on Monday’s Raw that she was going to pay Menounos a visit at “Extra.” Plus, Menounos would get some outside publicity for the WWE because she’s a bit of a celebrity, and throwing her into a match—she’s actually a fairly decent wrestler, by the way—could help generate more interest in WrestleMania from female viewers.

I like the idea of a match involving Ryder, Eve and Beth a bit more, though, because Ryder still doesn’t have a match for the pay-per-view, and Beth seemed to tease a face turn in that backstage segment with Eve on this week’s episode of Raw.

Maybe a mixed tag team match with Beth and Ryder vs. Eve and some random midcard heel? Who knows.

The WWE’s plans for the Divas change seemingly by the second, so any idea I come up with is an idea that the creative team would probably look at once and then just throw away.
