Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: Where Could Denver Broncos QB Land?

Chris TrapassoJun 7, 2018

If Peyton Manning signs with the Denver Broncos, many believe that iconic media darling Tim Tebow would be moved in a trade.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio cited sources close within the organization in a recent report saying Tebow will indeed be gone if Manning makes the Mile High City his home.

With the Broncos as one of the front-runners in the Manning sweepstakes, it's certainly not too early to look at possible landing spots for Tebow.

(Percentages based on where Tebow could land if he is traded)

Seattle Seahawks

To be blunt, I don't envision the Seahawks having much interest in Tebow.

Pete Carroll wants to run a traditional offense that features a strong-armed quarterback. Tarvaris Jackson is no franchise QB, but I feel the team would rather have someone they're familiar with under center than throw the inconsistent Tebow in the mix.

If they don't land Matt Flynn in free agency, they could make a play on Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, a guy with athleticism and great arm strength.

Chances: five percent

Buffalo Bills

There are no reports that the Bills or any other teams would necessarily be interested in Tebow, but there is legitimate basis to this speculation.

Think back to the 2010 draft.

Tebow got an invite to Buffalo from the team and had a one-on-one dinner with legendary Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, who gave Tebow a ringing endorsement.

Although owner Ralph Wilson Jr. and general manager Buddy said they had no intentions of moving up for the Florida quarterback, the connection was there, and many believed the Bills would have taken a look at him in the second round had he been available.

Even if they weren't in love with Tebow, head coach Chan Gailey has worked with mobile quarterbacks in the past (most namely Kordell Stewart), not the mention that Gailey himself is a former University of Florida signal-caller.

The team is committed to Ryan Fitzpatrick, but Tyler Thigpen is clearly not the answer as a back-up. Theoretically, they could groom Tebow behind the heady Fitzpatrick and possibly use Tebow in sub-packages in the near future.

Still, with their priorities set elsewhere in free agency, and it unlikely that they want to create a major stir in what seems to be a content locker room. With Fitzpatrick at the helm, the chances of a Tebow move to Buffalo are highly unlikely.

Chances: 15 percent

Jacksonville Jaguars

Tebow would be an instant draw to a team in dire need of selling more tickets having played his high school and college ball in the area.

Although they selected quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the first round last year, there's no added financial pressure to make him the starter.

The newly instituted rookie wage scale enacted by the CBA helped the Jaguars immensely. Gabbert signed a four-year, $12 million deal in 2011.

Tebow and Gabbert could go through an old-fashioned quarterback competition in training camp that could ultimately push each player to new heights.

The Jaguars are in rebuilding mode and could give Tebow time to grow as a signal-caller in his old stomping grounds.

Seems like the most ideal fit to me.
