NCAA Bracket 2012: High Seeds Who Aren't What They Seem

Ryan RudnanskyMar 12, 2012

Every year there are those high seeds in the NCAA Tournament who simply have no business being ranked near the top.

These are the teams primed for an upset right from the start.

Here's a look at three high seeds who will show their true sides come March Madness.

3. Ohio State (No. 2 Seed, East Region)

Ohio State has all the talent in the world, but the Buckeyes have lost to Michigan, Wisconsin and Michigan State twice since Feb. 11.

This is a team tabbed as the No. 3 team in the nation headed into the season.

The fact of the matter is, the Buckeyes aren't playing up to their potential, even at this point in the season, and it's debatable whether they should even be ranked No. 7 in the country.

2. Wisconsin (No. 4 Seed, East Region)

Wisconsin has largely gotten by this season because of a suffocating defense.

But at some point the Badgers need to score and rebound better to have any shot of going deep in the tournament.

Wisconsin ranks 263rd, 210th and 230th in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage respectively this season. That just isn't going to get it done come March Madness.

The Badgers lost by 13 points to Michigan State on Saturday.

Not a good sign.

1. Michigan (No. 4 Seed, Midwest Region)

Rebounding is only one facet of the game, but it's nonetheless a big one.

That's why it's hard to see Michigan going very far in the tournament. The Wolverines rank 311th in rebounds per game this season and have been continually pushed around in the paint.

On top of that, the Wolverines just got rocked by Ohio State, which just so happened to be struggling itself.
