WWE's Crappy Awards! The Best of the Worst from 2008!

Sterling EbyJan 12, 2009

2008 was a year of many firsts in the WWE. C.M. Punk and Jeff Hardy winning the World Heavyweight and WWE Championships, William Regal winning the King of the Ring, and many others.

But were not here to applaud their accomplishments. Were here to salute the many others who had crappy 2008's! Thus including this episode entitled the WWE Crappy's: The 2008 edition! Saluting the best of the worst! So let's get started!

Worst Match of the Year

TOP NEWS

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

In a year where average Pay Per View matches and average Raw and Smackdown matches were hyped as main events, this match crapped out even more than those.

However, coming in a close second we would like to introduce the Worst Match of the Year Runner Up going to Undertaker vs Big Show at Survivor Series in the Casket Match. Did anybody watch that match? Was that not the absolute slowest match ever? Very poorly executed match. But your Worst Match of the Year goes to:

Vince McMahon vs Hornswoggle in a Steel Cage Match

This match was borderline storyline murder. The only plus in this match was it set up a very solid opening contest at Wrestlemania with JBL facing Finlay in a Belfast Brawl. However, seeing Vince McMahon whip a midget with a belt in a Steel Cage Match isnt really worth seeing.

At least JBL threw him into the cage and stuff. Which should be a crime against humanity or something. Don't you think?

Worst Diva of the Year

No reason to waste typing on this one. You can agree to disagree about this but the award goes to:

Michelle McCool

In all honesty, putting Michelle McCool as the Worst Diva of the Year may sound wrong seeing as pretty much every diva sucks at wrestling on the roster. But Michelle McCool shows that you cant put a belt on a person if they still can't wrestle.

How long has she been training now? Three years? And she still is botching moves on a regularity. She didn't defend her Diva's Championship for months after winning it. It's just very poor. Please drop the Diva's Championship and bring back the WWE Cruiserweight Belt. Please. For everybody's sake, Vince. Thanks!

"What the Hell" Moment of the Year

This moment is similar to Joey Styles' "Oh My God" moment, except this goes to the moment where you said "What the Hell!!" There were actually quite a few runner ups. Such as CM Punk not even getting a chance to defend his title on a live pay per view. So let me run you through that.

He wins the title from Edge on a Monday Night Raw. He defends the title successfully for months. He beats Batista on a pay per view. He beats JBL on television. Then he gets to a pay per view and creative says "Nope, no more title" and he gets kicked in the head and can't defend his title.

Doesn't the idea of this just sound stupid? But this moment goes to everybody's favorite person in the world. The award goes to:

Mike Adamle for pretty much everything he ever said.

It was Royal Rumble 2008 when it was introduced to us by Mike Adamle that Jeff Harvey would get a chance at Randy Orton's title. Yep. Jeff Harvey. You know Jeff Harvey. He was in the tag team the Harvey Boys?

What about on ECW where he mentioned that the Little Guido was a former ECW Champion? Yep. Who knew little Nunz was a former Champion! So many butchered moments. Mike Adamle how we miss you. Rest in Peace.

Mike Adamle 2008 - 2008

Worst Tag Team of the Year

As much as I hate "thrown" together teams, this seems to have been the concept of the year the past few years in the WWE. With Cody and Hardcore Holly winning the belts, and C.M. Punk and Kofi Kingston, and who can forget Matt Hardy and MVP. That sure was fun for television. However, this award goes to the legit tag team who still can't get it done.

Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder

Yep the former WWE Tag Team Champions! It hurts to give this award to them because I actually like them, but the WWE has been bombing these guys for months. When you put a belt on somebody, it is usually because they are good wrestlers right?

How is it that after winning the belts, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder never had one successful title defense? Losing the belts a few months later to Primo Colon and Carlito Colon. Then a few weeks later starting to lose again and put in handicap matches against the likes of The Big Show and The Great Khali.

Sorry guys! Tough luck! Maybe next year!

The Worst Breakout Star of the Year aka The Even Colin Delaney wrestled better on television than this Star Award (Aka the Colin Delaney Memorial Award)

I couldn't think of a longer or better name for this award. This award goes to that one special wrestler who during his Rookie Year in the WWE, just blew. I mean this guy had a few chances to show what he's got. But once he was on television this guy just lost it. The award goes to:

Braden Walker

Ironically Braden Walker was also nominated for the "No, I'm not on steroids I have just gained a lot of weight and gotten fat since I left TNA" award. If anybody watched his first match on ECW Television, you were probably like me.

"Hey sweet its Chris Harris!" Then five minutes later you were discussing with your buddies: "Hey did he win with a double axe handle off the top ropes or was that a cross body?" Still to this day, that question has never been answered. Braden Walker we hardly knew ye!

Worst Superstar of the Year

Last but not least, we have are last award. It goes to the person who has the potential to be a "superstar" and he also has the potential to have a "worst" put in front of the name "superstar" Thus making it the award to the "Worst Superstar" I think everyone feels bad for this guy. The Award goes to:

Chavo Guerrero

Ooooo Chavo! Sadly we didn't hear a lot of that this year, instead it was Vickie Guerrero yelling CHAVO!! Chavo Guerrero started off his 2008 with a bang! Winning the ECW Championship on television from C.M. Punk.

Then it went to a screeching halt at Wrestlemania when he lost his ECW Championship in like six seconds (maybe.) Anyone who saw that match saw Chavo came SO close to winning that match but it wasn't the poor kids night.

Chavo also wins the Humanitarian of the Year Award for carting Vickie around in her wheel chair for the past nine months or so. We're still counting actually. In fact, Vickie in a wheelchair is kind of like Cowboy Bob Orton having a cast on still.

We're not sure why its there, but nobody questions it. Seriously. Why does nobody talk about Vickie still being in a wheelchair. In fact, did you know she was still in a wheelchair?

Thus sums up this years WWE Crappy's! Maybe some of these names will be excluded next year but until then, Happy New Year, WWE.
