NCAA Bracket 2012: Why Nobody Will Stop Kentucky's March Toward the Title

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

With a fantastic combination of elite talent, great coaching and NCAA tournament experience, nobody is going to stop Kentucky's march toward a national championship this year.

Head coach John Calipari has never won an NCAA title, although he's come close a few times, but he will finally win it all this season with Kentucky.

Let's look at why nobody will stop the Wildcats.

Kentucky has been tested

In addition to dominating the SEC conference with a perfect 16-0 record, the Wildcats challenged themselves against elite teams from several of the nation's top conferences this season, defeating Kansas, Louisville and North Carolina.

Kentucky has been tested by some of the America's top teams and are ready to dominate in March Madness.

Too much talent

Freshman forward Anthony Davis is the nation's best player and is a force at both ends of the floor with his great offensive game and athleticism defensively. In his last five games, Davis has four double-doubles and is shooting better than 50 percent from the floor.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is another huge reason why the Wildcats have done well this season. The freshman forward is capable of a double-double every game and really helps the Kentucky defense with his shot-blocking ability.

Terrence Jones also gives the Wildcats the valuable experience of having made a deep tournament run before. He was with the team last year when they advanced to the Final Four. Jones is playing some of his basketball in recent weeks and will be a confident player heading into the tournament.

Kentucky just has an unbelievable amount of talent at every position, but more importantly, their players understand that this is the time of year where legends are made. Kentucky has the swagger right now that all championship teams have this time of year.

Many games aren't even close

Kentucky was so dominant in their undefeated SEC season that their average margin of victory was 16.2 points and only two teams scored more than 64 points.

Another incredible stat for Kentucky that shows their defensive dominance is their current streak of 64 straight games without an opponent shooting 50 percent from the field or better against them. That is insane, and it just shows you how amazing Kentucky is on defense with all the athleticism they have.

Will Kentucky win it all?

It would be a huge disappointment for Wildcats fans if Kentucky did not win the national title this season. Teams such as North Carolina and Syracuse are quite talented too, but there's no excuse for the Wildcats not to hoist the trophy in April.

If Kentucky continues its strong play at both ends of the floor in March Madness, Calipari and his team will be cutting down the nets in New Orleans.
