Pau Gasol Trade Rumors Tracker: Recapping the Latest Buzz
The Los Angeles Lakers are 4-2 since the All-Star break, but the losses against Detroit and Washington are deeply concerning for this team.
One possible way to shake up the team and breathe some fresh air into a roster that seems to be on its last legs is to trade Pau Gasol.
The 31-year-old big man has helped the Lakers win two championships and make three finals appearances, but he hasn’t found a comfortable role in coach Mike Brown’s new system.
We are going to keep you updated with the latest trade rumors and chatter concerning the Lakers star up until the deadline, so keep it tuned here all week.
Update: Thursday, March 15 at 12:10 p.m. ET -- Nicholas Goss
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Lakers tried to acquire New Jersey Nets star point guard Deron Williams by offering a package around star forward Pau Gasol, but the offer was rejected.
"Sources say Lakers already DID offer Gasol-centric package for D-Will in December and Nets turned it down. ESPN link: es.pn/xNt5kM

This would have been a good deal for the Lakers, but it's not surprising that it was rejected by the Nets. New Jersey seems determined to keep Williams for the future and build a championship team around him.
The Lakers need to upgrade at point guard, and after striking out on possible Chris Paul and Deron Williams deals, Los Angeles will have to improve its trade package or target a second tier point guard.
Update: Thursday, March 15 at 8:14 a.m. ET -- Nicholas Goss
According to ESPN's Chris Palmer, it's unlikely that Lakers star Pau Gasol is traded before this afternoon's deadline.
"Highly unlikely Pau Gasol will be traded. After LA nixed a potential Rondo swap interest dropped way off, source tells me.

Not trading Gasol is the best move for the Lakers. Him and star center Andrew Bynum are a seven-foot duo no other team has, and the two of them create matchup nightmares for every team in the league.
It's obvious that Gasol has been affected by the constant rumors surrounding him this season, so once the deadline passes, it's possible his play improves drastically when the distractions are over.
Update: Tuesday, March 13 at 4:35 p.m. ET
The Chicago Bulls have been mentioned before in Pau Gasol trade rumors, and it appears they are going to do what they can to land the tall Spaniard. ESPN's Marc Stein tweeted out the info.
"Bulls exploring avenues to try to trade for Lakers' Pau Gasol, sources close to situation say. Story going up now at ESPN online
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) March 13, 2012"
The Lakers would jump all over this trade...if it was for Derrick Rose, but that's not going to happen. Any other package the Lakers consider would likely have to involve Luol Deng. I'm sure the Bulls would be more than happy to throw in Carlos Boozer, but he has very little value at this point in his career.
Update: Saturday March 10 at 3:10 p.m. EDT
Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles wrote a piece on how Gasol doesn’t let the trade rumors bother him. But she also mentioned that the team is in talks with a team about a possible swap.
"There were talks with the Houston Rockets in recent days, nothing became serious because the Lakers aren't inclined to move Gasol unless they can get an All-Star-caliber player in return, most likely a point guard.
"
LA is most likely interested in Kyle Lowry, but it would take more to pry Pau away from them. Expect Houston to ramp up their offer as the deadline draws nearer.
Houston is an intriguing team to trade with as they already landed Gasol in the offseason before commissioner David Stern nixed that blockbuster trade that would have seen Chris Paul in purple and yellow.
