After splitting two regular season meetings, No. 17 Florida State and No. 6 Duke will meet for the third time this season in the semifinals of the 2012 ACC Tournament.

The Blue Devils held on to defeat Virginia Tech on Friday night while the Seminoles comfortably defeated Miami (FL) in the two team's quarterfinal matchups.

Both teams are a lock to reach the NCAA Tournament, but a win on Saturday afternoon could greatly help the Seminoles' seeding because two wins against Duke would look pretty impressive on their resume. For Duke, a win would set up a likely meeting with rival North Carolina in the final of the tournament.

Duke forward Josh Hairston is day-to-day with a concussion.

Florida State does not have any recent injuries reported. 

What's At Stake?

The Blue Devils need a win to secure a trip to the final for a chance at possibly getting a No. 1 seed. The only way I can see Duke getting one of the top four seeds is by beating North Carolina for the ACC championship. Duke doesn't need a No. 1 seed, but it certainly could make their road to a Final Four appearance easier.

Florida State is probably going to be headed to March Madness no matter what the result is on Saturday but it doesn't hurt to win just to be sure. If there's any upset conference title winners then some bubble teams could be eliminated from the field of 68. A win for the Seminoles would give them a quality seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton talked about his team's upcoming matchup with Duke, saying via ESPN:

We have a system that we use. I think the team that comes as close as they can to executing their system in relation to their abilities is normally the team that wins."

Most Important Player to Watch: Austin Rivers

Duke freshman point guard Austin Rivers must play well if the Blue Devils are going to win this game. Against Virginia Tech in the quarterfinal, he led the team with 17 points but only shot 5-of-14 from the field and 1-of-6 from the three-point line.

Rivers has to be more efficient against a Seminoles defense that is bigger and more athletic than the Hokies' defense. A strong game by Rivers would ensure Duke advances to the final.

Key Matchup: Michael Snaer vs. Austin Rivers

This battle at guard will be quite important since both if these players lead their teams in scoring. Snaer averaged 14.3 points per game this season, but has scored at least 18 in four of his last five games, and at least 20 points in three of those games.

He will need another 18-plus performance against Duke like he had on February 23 if the Seminoles are going to pull off the upset.

Rivers, on the other hand, must lead Duke's offense because the team has been too inconsistent from three-point range. Rivers has to be aggressive and take the ball to the basket often.

Prediction: Florida State Wins, 75-72

The Seminoles know they can beat Duke this season after their win against the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor in mid-January.

With more size and a deeper bench, Florida State will defend Rivers well and force Duke players such as Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry to win the game.

If Duke plays sloppy and shoots poorly from three-point range like they did against Virginia Tech they will be beaten by Florida State.

Expect the Seminoles to play solid defense and earn a slim victory over the Blue Devils to reach the final of the ACC Tournament.
