WWE WrestleMania 28: Ranking the Matches on the Card

Chris HumphreyJun 7, 2018

Even though there are only five matches officially announced for this year’s WrestleMania, the card is shaping up to the one of the greatest in the 27-year history of the WWE’s premier event of the year.

With only 23 days until the WWE invades Sun Life Stadium in Miami for WrestleMania 28, the following slideshow will rank the five current matches on the card, from the Hell in a Cell match between the Undertaker and Triple H to the WWE Championship match between CM Punk and Chris Jericho.

Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show, Intercontinental Championship

1 of 5

As the Intercontinental Champion continues to pick on the Big Show for his poor WrestleMania record, Cody Rhodes might have his hands full when the two superstars finally meet one-on-one at WrestleMania 28 in Miami on April 1.

Even though a lot of people will be picking Show to win the first Intercontinental title of his career, I see the veteran losing to Rhodes to help push the up-and-coming superstar, with a likely run in the main event on the horizon.

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus, World Heavyweight Championship

2 of 5

After winning the World Heavyweight Championship from the Big Show at Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December, Daniel Bryan has done his impression of a heel champion, as he has done everything in the book since then to weasel out of matches.

On the other hand, Sheamus has been dominant in the same frame of time. He has rarely lost a match, and he outlasted Chris Jericho to win the 2012 Royal Rumble in January to set up their WrestleMania championship match.

Just like the Rhodes/Show match that I mentioned in the previous slide, I think most fans will be picking Sheamus going into the match on April 1, but I think Daniel Bryan will find a way to knock off the Celtic Warrior in Miami.

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho, WWE Championship

3 of 5

After being rumored even before Jericho made his return to the WWE on January 2nd, the match between the two superstars—who both proclaim they are the “Best in the World” in the WWE—will face off for the company's biggest championship.

With Jericho only remaining in the company until probably the beginning of the summer, I think the WWE will give CM Punk arguably his biggest win of his career over Y2J since Punk exploded into superstardom last summer.

The Undertaker vs. Triple H, Hell in a Cell Match

4 of 5

The Hell in a Cell will make its return for the first time since WrestleMania XV in 1999, where the Phenom scored his eighth WrestleMania win over the Big Boss Man inside the dangerous cage in Philadelphia.

With the inclusion of Shawn Michaels into the match as special guest referee, the unofficial end of an era match between Triple H and the Undertaker does not need any setup. The Dead Man’s undefeated streak will be on the line against his toughest opponent at any WrestleMania.

I really hope the WWE doesn’t have Triple H end the streak, so that Phenom can potentially retire from wrestling with the greatest record in the history of the WWE.

The Rock vs. John Cena

5 of 5

Even though John Cena might be winning the verbal battle with the Rock recently on Raw Supershow, it won’t matter. The Sun Life Stadium crowd will be very biased toward the Great One when the two lock up to start the match on April 1.

After showing at last year’s Survivor Series that he’s still got it, the Rock will be ready to back up his latest claims, even though he's only competed in that one match in the past seven years since leaving at WrestleMania 20 in 2004.

While giving a prediction on the other four matches on the card at this time, I really don’t know how the WWE is going to do the ending of this match as I can see both the Rock and John Cena winning the match in the Great One’s hometown of Miami.
