2012 Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft: Complete 1st Round with Projected Stats

Kyle BrownJun 7, 2018

If you are starting to get that itch for fantasy baseball season and you want to start taking a look at how some first rounds might go down, here's a first-round mock draft with projected stats for each player.

1. Albert Pujols, 1B, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Albert Pujols has been the No. 1 overall pick in fantasy baseball for the past five years, and the trend will continue for at least another year. He has destroyed interleague pitching throughout his career, so switching leagues won't pose a problem.

Projected stats: .322/.432/.599, 41 home runs and 121 RBI.

2. Matt Kemp, CF, Los Angeles Dodgers

Matt Kemp is a true five-tool player, and he deserves to be the second overall pick in this draft. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go No. 1 overall in a few drafts.

Projected stats: .317/.399/.598, 42 home runs and 119 RBI (38 stolen bases).

3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B, Detroit Tigers

With Prince Fielder now protecting him, Miguel Cabrera is going to put up some insane numbers.

Projected stats: .331/.442/.601, 36 home runs and 122 RBI.

4. Ryan Braun, LF, Milwaukee Brewers

Despite this hectic and stressful offseason in 2012, Ryan Braun will come out with something to prove next season. Plus, he's simply too good of a hitter to have a down year.

Projected stats: .312/.386/.588, 35 home runs and 113 RBI (27 stolen bases).

5. Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Colorado Rockies

This could be the best value pick in the entire draft. Shortstop is a very thin position in baseball, and Troy Tulowitzki still puts up very solid numbers that compare to even some of the better-slugging first basemen in the game.

Projected stats: .308/.379/.555, 32 home runs and 107 RBI.

6. Prince Fielder, 1B, Detroit Tigers

Prince Fielder was born to hit. Now that he's batting next to Miguel Cabrera and the rest of a very potent Detroit Tigers lineup, don't expect his numbers to change much from his time in Milwaukee.

Projected stats: .288./.421/.562, 43 home runs and 125 RBI.

7. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, Boston Red Sox

Jacoby Ellsbury can hit for power, average and he can steal a ton of bases. I wouldn't hesitate to use a top-10 pick on him.

Projected stats: .301/.366/.498, 25 home runs and 91 RBI (45 stolen bases).

8. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B, Boston Red Sox

With his hitting abilities, the Boston Red Sox's lineup and playing in Fenway Park, Adrian Gonzalez is a sure thing in the first round.

Projected stats: .330/.419/.558, 36 home runs and 125 RBI.

9. Clayton Kershaw, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Clayton Kershaw's numbers in 2011 weren't a fluke; he's the real deal. He'll get you wins, strike outs, a low ERA and a lot of innings pitched.

Projected stats: 19-5, 2.21 ERA, 256/48 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

10. Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds

You know what you're going to get with Joey Votto. He's one of the safest picks in fantasy baseball.

Projected stats: .329/.417/.556, 31 home runs and 108 RBI.
